It's not the greatest loss if you're a victim (the malware isn't compromising the games or your Steam account), but it'll probably leave you crestfallen if you spent ages collecting rare virtual objects.

Just a reminder that there are people out there who will steal from you, yes you! Your pathetic account with $2 worth of stuff will be stolen from if you don't bother practicing good security. Also don't let your kid brother download whatever onto your computer.

The article says it may not be the biggest loss but some people have items worth more then their entire Steam library. I don't know if the author realizes how much some of that stuff sells for.

And this is why Steam has started implementing mandatory security features. Not that I mind.

Considering that some skins go for insane prices (200dollar+ for a knife skin), this might be bigger than it looks in the start.

Did they just defrost you? This world is messed up, all you can do is try to live with it.

A combination of rarity and popularity. Perfect Supply/Demand scenario.

Yep. As much as I missed that real money auction house on Diablo 3...I made an utter killing in that game. Upwards of $2k after two months just farming and selling stuff on the RMAH. If there are people willing to pay, then by all means I'll take the time to supply.
