Console gamer want to build his first pc!

Hello all I'm currently a console gamer looking to build his first pc.
I have attached a photo of my current parts list and am looking for any reccomendations as to how I could improve my build while staying close to the $1000 mark. I'm hoping this build would be able to handle games like The Witcher 3 on high possibly ultra at 1080p. Any suggestions for the build would be greatly appreciated.

Could you spend the extra money for a GTX 980? The 970 might be OK at 1080p, but if you go over 3.5GB of VRAM on that card, the games will really slow down and suffer.

That PSU is pretty outdated now, I'm sure you can find better at that price range.

As for the 8GB of RAM, some games can seriously hog the RAM, causing the need for more RAM (thanks to bad programming). Buy the 8GB for now and if you need more, pick up another 8GB (same kit) later and plug it in smile.gif

As for storage, use at least a mid range SSD. They are extremely quick compared to a HDD. I did not see storage on the list. wink.gif

Do you have a monitor, a keyboard, a mouse, and speakers already?

If you went for an i5-4690K instead of the i7-4790K, will you be able to get a GTX980 instead? Or put the saving towards an SSD.....
For a pure gaming rig I would drop the 4790k and go for a 4690k or 6600k/z170/ddr4 setup and bump up from a 970 to a 980. Going the 4790k with HT will net you negligible (or non existent) gains in frame rate but you're losing performance with the 970.

Also, M12II is a good PSU for the price range, but be warned it's not the quietest if a silent build is your thing, I would probably go with an EVGA 650G2 over it for the H440 since it's more of a silent type case.

Lastly, speaking of noise, you may want to consider an aftermarket CPU cooler to go with this, especially if you're looking to spend the extra money for a K series i5/i7. Otherwise it's going to run hot, not have room for overclocking, and buzz like a beehive. There's really not much sense to spending on a K edition chip without beefed up cooling honestly.

Like previous posts sayd drop the i7 and go for i5 so you could afford gtx 980.

Gtx 970 starts to show its limits even on 1080p.

Also would go for MSI gaming series motherboard.
