hey guys im torn between building a small gaming ring and im torn between two cases which are

ITX : thermaltake v1

MATX: thermaltake v21

PC build:

i3-4130
mobo according to which chasis i would take (not important)
8gb 1.6ghz ram cas9
r9 280x
500w psu corsair cx builder
2x 250gb ssd
evga mini itx cpu cooler
monitor asus vc239h

My planned budget is 500gbp so it fits just qbout

with mini itx the final cost is around 560 with everything including kb, headset and speakers

with matx the final cost is around 540 with everything including kb, headset and speakers

So as you can see, the pc will be "budgetlike" but still having it's say. I don't feel like i need i5 cores etc so i3 with it's hyperthreading seems like a good choice to me, both cases fits my requirements as to airflow and gpu fitting although matx variant seems more future proof as i could fit longer gpus there and have much more space for future upgrades (maybe better cpu and watercooling later on)

So... help me decide guys!

I'd only go with mITX if you absolutely want your build to be really really small, and making it as small as possible is key. If, on the other hand, you want it to "just" be small, as in, not too big and not bigger than it has to be, then mATX is the way to go - you get more features and more options for the same price. mATX is the golden middle of form factors. With ATX you pay for extra extension options, and with mITX you pay for extra compactness.

Go ITX. I got an ITX motherboard and I stuck it in a midATX case...no problems here. I love the small form factor and I can always go smaller if I want. If I had a mATX motherboard I couldn't necessarily do that. The only reason why I'd say go mATX is if you planned on having SLI/Crossfire GPUs. Other than that, there's no reason why not to get ITX. Selection is a tad less and you might not be able to get 5GHz or more on the GPU but it looks like you don't plan on doing some extensive CPU overclocking also... go ITX!

Should be a nice little build!

Also, I own the V21 and I LOVE IT.

Yessir.

Not the biggest SoL fan, but Oreimo is hilarious!

Also, have fun with the build.
