[TT] NVIDIA should launch its next-gen Pascal GPUs with HBM2 in 2H 2016 - Page 15

Yes they use the same die nomenclature for Tesla cards, unless there's a special version of the die that's not released to the GeForce line. (eg Tesla K80 uses the GK210 die which has 2 SMX's hacked off for a total of 2496 stream processors)

If the card has an EEPROM then it is physically capable of being reprogrammed.

And if so, are they even capable of having their bios flashed? Reason I ask is because it may well be that the professional grade cards are in full production and they are just tweaking around the final specs on the Titan.

edit: wouldn't the software they use to handle the portion you describe be a modified version kept in-house rather than available to the public?

Yeah what Magnek described.

I dont know how its going to perform but rumours are floating around that it will be 30% faster than Titan X. If its true, well, not sure if its worth the money considering its unlikely to be 4K@60 stable. Right now, a pair of 980ti or Fury X is needed for 4K and 30% is not going to be enough.

Btw, I am talking about max settings w/o FSAA at 4K. Games like Witcher 3 needs a pair of 980ti to run at 4K with max settings.

If you are talking about small Pascal being 30% faster than a Titan X that is pretty good. That means that big Pascal (Titan Y) should be at least 60% faster than the Titan X.

No, I meant the big Pascal 30% faster. Thats what I read on the net. The new titan will be 30% faster.

If its 60% then it should be decent enough for 4K60. If not I dont think it will suffice.

If GP100 is only 30% faster than GM200 then it's beyond an epic fail, and nVidia should be ashamed to even release a turd like that.

I don't think they'll release big pascal anytime soon. If you mean that big pascal that they'll release a year after the next flagship, is going to be 30% faster than their current flagship, it'd indeed be pretty fail.

If the card they release in 2H 2016 is 30% faster than TX, I wouldn't be too surprised.

If GP100 will be 50% faster than GP200 than all those 980Ti owners will be super ashamed, dishonored and highly insulted by back-stabbing company and their new MUCH FASTER product released almost not even a year later. Now, that would be unprecedented scandal smile.gif

BUT on the other hand, if they don't release FAST GP100 and don't release it SOON they will be facing almost certain loss of GPU market pie as AMD launch Polaris with HBM2 so.... Tough decisions for management.
