[TT] NVIDIA should launch its next-gen Pascal GPUs with HBM2 in 2H 2016 - Page 28

I don't see that ever happening as games are always optimizing and outpacing the graphics cards. Certainly not for multiple monitor setups anyway. You might be able to play last year's games that way.

Look man, look at facts

Every NVIDIA gameworks game runs bad on kepler and GCN at start...
Gameworks isnt great for PC development.

What would happen if AMD do same? And they will have to do if they want to get some market share.

So what NVIDIA will change gameworks and optimized it every time they release new arch just to make their old GPU bad?
Lets put it simple if this nonsense continues then in few years you will need to buy AMD and NVIDIA GPU to play games that you actually want.

How much of an improvement would we see from the next GPU aka Pascal by any chance?
Probably a decent amount, since todays market, monitors are aiming at 260hz monitors already, and 4k 120hz, by the end of 2016, if the rumors are true atleast.

depends on arhitectural changes... but basically AMD GCN3 should be better than pascal... and then VOLTA will be better than GCN3.

But you can expect at least 2x performance of Fury X/GTX 980TI in 2017.

Yeah, gonna keep my build until Volta hits the market for sure. no reason for me to upgrade. just build my X99 system, since volta should be the biggest leap in performance according to theyre "graph"

Might be a good solution if this DX12 multi gpu brand mixing feature starts getting used by the developers.

While it would be nice if AMD did beat n_v. All you have to do is look into the past history. That tells you probably not going to happen.

To say you can expect twice as much performance. You won't see that either, at best your guessing. You not even close.

I think its entirely possible that we could see that kind of performance increase over the current generation late this year/early next year. This will be the first time since 2012 that we will actually have a process shrink to go along with a new architecture for both companies (as well as HBM2)...

If AMD got their launch drivers up to snuff I don't see why that couldn't happen. I mean 7970 took a beating from 680 when it launched, but after AMD finally got their drivers sorted out, 680 got left in the dust. Likewise with 290X -- barely traded blows with OG Titan and beat by 780 Ti when it launched, but is now edging out even the 780 Ti. Yes it took AMD 2-3 years, so I'm obviously not praising them here, but there's no denying AMD did leave a lot of performance on the table when both Tahiti (7970) and Hawaii (290X) launched, and that I think ended up hurting them a lot.

facts are GW is made up of physX and cuda that maxwell runs it better at 40% performance increase over kepler, AMD . .doesn't do well. GW has nothing to do with PC developement. if you don't want/like a game with it simply don't buy the game and tell the developer why. tell AMD to work more with the developers. that is exactly how nvidia was able to get tressFX working in TR:

We’ve been working closely with NVIDIA to address the issues experienced by some Tomb Raider players. In conjunction with this patch, NVIDIA will be releasing updated drivers that help to improve stability and performance of Tomb Raider on NVIDIA GeForce GPUs. We are continuing to work together to resolve any remaining outstanding issues. We recommend that GeForce users update to the latest GeForce 314.21 drivers (posting today) for the best experience in Tomb Raider.

i fully expect pascal to outperform maxwell's counter parts with the mid range chips slapping around 980TI and titanXs - this is what happens every gen. saying NV will change source code to expound upon that is just fear mongering and completely ignores GW was released before maxwell with many of the libraries (IQ settings/effects) already used in games years prior.

i hope, nay DEMAND that AMD does the same with a-sync compute. i am fully discouraged at the way AMD doesn't fully use the resources available to them. their model of claiming open source and then just walking away from their developments haven't worked out well for them. the proof is in the pudding. they NEED to make a-sysnc compute (w/DX12) as attractive, if not more, than working with GW for a developer.

until they do that NV will be in the driver's seat for gaming development.
