[TT] NVIDIA should launch its next-gen Pascal GPUs with HBM2 in 2H 2016 - Page 53

I don't really see much tearing even with v-sync off, i doubt they will be any with G-SYNC lol !

Ok, so I set FPS limiter to 140 in AB, see tearing in BL2 described above. I disable AB limiter, set in-game limiter to 120 or 90, still see screen tearing. Check NVCP, GSync is most definitely on.

Seriously if you have Borderlands 2 just test for yourself. If it makes a difference I have an Acer XB270HU.

I have the same Acer, and what you see isn't tearing. Do you know what tearing is? I'm not convinced, at this point.

If you see screen tearing, then G-Sync is not active. Period.

It's not often, but it definitely is happening to me. By all means though, I'd love it if you could explain what I'm doing wrong to have tearing with G-sync enabled (acer x34 can't go over 60 fps without g-sync enabled, hence how I know it's on. NVCP says so as well.)

This is definitely a time when I would rather be proven wrong than right. thumb.gif

I know what tearing is, and what is it you think I see?

What I think you're seeing is a break in fluidity caused by spinning too fast. No refresh system will be able to compensate for that. It becomes a function of your eye's integration time and the angular speed of the still images making up the scene. It is worse at lower framerates, in the teens or so you'll see a fluidity loss on fixed perspectives with slow-moving objects, but spin the scene fast enough even at a hundred FPS and you will get splitting of the fluid image into individually-resolvable still images.

That's NOT tearing.

Yes I see that too, and it manifests itself as stutter. But that is NOT what I'm referring to as tearing. I am seeing "line breaks" in the top 1/3 of the screen, (really not sure how else to describe screen tearing literally), and that's what I'm referring to as tearing.

That's what I'm getting on occasion. Again, it's not all the time, it's every once in a while.

Seen it in FO4 and rise of the tomb raider. Still way better than V-sync, but it's definitely there.

If there is some trick or gimmick I'm missing or not doing, I'm all ears. Again, would rather be wrong and not have tearing, than be right and have tearing on occasion.

edit: Like magnek it's also at the top 1/3rd of the screen, and seems to stay manifested for several frames (up to a second maybe).

^yes that's exactly what I see. Funny how it's also in the top 1/3 of the screen. For whatever reason the tearing I see is only in the top 1/3 of the screen with GSync on.

Anyway I've said all that needs to be said and gave enough details so those who have Borderlands 2 can try to replicate what I'm seeing. I think I'm done here.

I'm not done yet, I want someone to say "you forgot to do "X", moron." Then I feel like an idiot, but an idiot without screen tearing thumb.gif
