I doubt it, that is such a niche thing right now. I don't think any consumer level usage/hardware would even justify that sort of link either. Moving the entire GPU onto the package with CPU is where consumers are going to be going I am sure.

EDIT:

Although AMD is making a move towards enterprise, so maybe they are working on something behind the scene.

Yeah prob not. Bandwidth for PCIe 3.0 x16 is already like 16 GBps and there's not much difference between x8 and x16 (not that big either for x4). Source: https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/R9_Fury_X_PCI-Express_Scaling/18.html

My wife's 8350 is currently running Win 7 & Ubuntu 12.04 Dual boot on a 120 Gb sata drive. It did get corrupted (win 7) but was able to restore because I made images on another older HDD. I plug it in, make the image and then unplug it. Not something you do every day.
Running windows without making periodic images is asking for disaster. Storing data on the same drive as the OS is stupid. Notice I never said anything about having to fix Linux.
She don't like Linux because it won't let her go to where things get corrupted because they are "free and fun". She also never shuts it down. She turns the monitor off. She just lets it go to sleep.
Mirroring with WD Re HDDs is another way of keeping things you need. Raid 0 is for gaming or speed. Raid 1,2 or 3 is for data protection.

The real question will be in how well Zen will be for business use ? That is where the big money is.

precisely unlress this has to do with the drive comment about them getting corrupted which we clearly clered up.. however so many threads i think its this one.. lol

regardless.. had no relevance.

The same with threads. There will be not more than 8 threads. I think, AMD will create something as 4CU/8T. The product is focusing against LGA1151, not against LGA2011.

AMD has repeatedly stated that they are aiming high with Zen. A quad core as the top end would be aiming low.

AMD *MUST* create an octo-core Zen die as well as a quad core die. Anything less would be suicide. They need the 8-core die for servers - and the enthusiast market, with their high margins, can use up some of the capacity as well... at what would amount to a tiny additional cost for AMD while making their lower end offerings more appealing.

I won't upgrade to another quad core CPU (I have an i7 2600k @ 4.5GHz - though it is stable over 5GHz). If AMD wants me to buy Zen for more than just low end builds, they will need 6/8 core options with > Ivy Bridge IPC & clocks (the equivalent of 4.5GHz Sandy Bridge for ST is fine, though I'm always willing to have more).

EDIT:

Although AMD is making a move towards enterprise, so maybe they are working on something behind the scene.

Incoming grains of salt:
AMD Talks Next Generation Coherent Interconnect Fabric Connecting Polaris GPUs, Zen CPUs and HPC APUs
Quote:
AMD’s Coherent Fabric To Clock in 100 GB/s Interconnect Speeds – Open Nature Design

PCI-Express is already seen as a bottleneck when connecting several nodes in high-performance sectors. AMD sees their current PCI-e and CrossFire solutions not working with next generation machines hence they have to design a new coherent fabric. The interconnect will offer speeds of 100 GB/s across multiple GPUs and APUs that are featured inside AMD powered compute machines and will deploy some open standards.
Quote:
Comparing to NVIDIA’s NVLINK which is going to have interconnect speeds of up to 200 GB/s, the AMD solution does have a slight advantage as it works across x86 processors as well while NVIDIA’s NVLINK works across the NVIDIA based GPUs and IBM’s Power CPUs. NVIDIA is already deploying NVLINK in two next generation super computer so it will be interesting to see AMD’s own solution going in action to power some high-end spectrum devices.
