Until today I was running bios version 1801 with an overclock of 4.5ghz on a 5960x. I had corsair lpx vengeance ram running at 2666mhz on xmp. I updated my bios to version 2101 and redid my overclock. However, last time xmp automatically changed my cpu strap to 125mhz with bios 1801. This time, with bios 2101, xmp didn't change the cpu strap (which remained at 100mhz) but was able to run the ram at 2666 MHz. I have stress tested the cpu and memory with no problems. Why didn't the cpu strap change like with the previous bios? Is it just because of the bios update?
