What happened to the dx12 patch for this never mind xbone mad.gif
post #12 of 43
Ouch, that's... bad. With performance like that, I doubt it'll ever be playable.

ahh man. There goes the game's lofty goals. Here comes reduced expectations and limited scope. All to fit in gimped console land.

When a game is made for pc it should stay made for pc. If the finished game is then cut down and ported in diminished state to run on consoles that's fine, but when a console version gets developed during development it always means compromises forced onto the pc version.

oh well.

Nvidia happened. Once they pumped in money to make this a TWIWMTBP title, they pushed back the Dx12 release, presumably because it ran terribly on Nvidia cards on Dx12. Even on DX11, my GTX970 barely keeps up with my friends R9 290.

As far as I can tell at the moment, this is what's going on. AFAIK there's a separate team that takes what's done on the PC and cuts it down to fit in a console.

Haven't played or followed the game much since Nvidia decided to break it though. Had tons of fun before that. mad.gif

Lol yeah. Me and all my friends quit because of some bad glitches that ruined the game as well as the performance. They've been saying they'll do the dx12 update every month since August. Every month I check back with the updates to see if it ever happens. If they updated to DX12 (or even added SLI/Crossfire support) I'd play again in a heartbeat. It's a great game just a poor performing game right now.

@DDGSoftis @survivetheark @Xbox I understand your perspective, but the game is not done. 6+ months left, the last 3 for final optimization.

In response to someone who said that adding more dinosaurs to the game wont make more players if players are unable to play the game.

I love how they're really clear with the community and talk with them, it's awesome!
It's just a shame that optimization isn't much of a focus right now. in the game development stage optimization is often left till last, but I feel with a game of this caliber it would be nice to have just some slight optimization work done a few weeks or months before the final 3 months of development, it's kind of a pain to be apart of the testing for this game in it's early access when it has some serious performance issues.

I'm sure it's going to turn out to be an amazing game! The gameplay is superb, they're really focusing on alot of awesome things with this game!

Why release it on xb1 before ps4? Seems like an odd move

Microsoft have a game preview program which is a bit like Steam Early Access where you can play games during their development stage before they release, I don't think Sony have a system like this in place for the PlayStation 4.

Why release it at all? I don't understand the attraction to this game, looks like crap, runs like crap, tons of pop in and texture issues. I find it boring, to be fair I don't have a ton of free time to sink into it, but I couldn't get over the graphics, gameplay, and animations. To each their own I suppose.

What do you mean? Obvious performance issues aside, the game looks absolutely gorgeous and the gameplay is pretty neat if you have people to play with. I had a blast wandering alone the first few days alone and had so many epic stories to tell that a bunch of people ended up joining me.

Maybe RPG/survival just isn't your thing, but ugly graphics? No chance.
