Motherboard to fit SLI setup + 2 PCI-E 4x devices? - Page 2

So I decided to give a look at some motherboards and the Gigabyte GA-X99-GAMING G1 looks rad. Is it good?

1/3 of the reviews on Newegg are one-star, so maybe not. They're not even "DOA, one star" type reviews, but actually justified. Like, issues POSTing with certain configurations. On the other hand, there are only two critical reviews on Amazon that are worth reading. So... I don't know. I'd look for a different board, as the sheer amount of useful critical reviews (note that there's a difference between a useful review and one like "did not fit, one star" or "dead on arrival, one star") is a bit worrying.

Irregardful. Slot configuration? GPU, non-GPU, GPU, non-GPU, assuming you get it. Seems like that's a standard layout for X99 boards with a 5820K installed, with slots running x8/x4/x8/x8.

EDIT: Actually, it looks like Gigabyte as a whole is hit or miss for this platform. Strange, since they're usually top notch or at least above average. The board with the best reviews on Newegg, ironically, is the cheapo one I linked earlier: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128772&cm_re=x99_motherboard-_-13-128-772-_-Product

Luckly that UD3P card is actually available in my country. Way cheaper than the other one. But in the other hand it doesn't seems to have half of the features. Not that I'd be using all of them of course

Another option that I have here is the Asus Sabertooth X99, what do you think? I'm not sure if that card would have enough slots to properly fit all 4 cards.

For the slot configuration, the original plan was GPU-GPU-Non GPU-Non GPU. But I can't confirm this until I get all of the hardware.

The more expensive gaming board has twice the RAM slots. Not a huge deal. DDR4 is going to get more and more dense as time goes on. PCIe and M.2 options look about identical. There are bonus SATA ports that you shouldn't use because they suck, probably ASMedia or something. The gaming board has a few useful features for getting into and messing with BIOS should anything go wrong, but pulling the CMOS battery is as always an option. To be honest, I don't see any real features - ones you would use or not - on the gaming board outside of WiFi. Cheaper option is probably the better one in this case.
