I can understand them using a r9 380x 4gb over my r9 380 4gb but why use a gtx 960 2gb and not a gtx 690 4gb it make a diffence in a lot of stuff

Titles like Project Cars are a disgrace, I'd say the same if Nvidia were the ones with these results, i mean look at this, it's absurd..

That's what I mean, I agree that you should include as many relevant games as possible even if they don't run well on one brand, but Project Cars seems basically broken. I don't have the game (and I use a NVIDIA card) but every report I've seen of it shows it not just not running well on AMD but being broken (and I'd blame the developer here). That skews the averaged results.

That and their CPU numbers just never make any sense and don't match anyone else's, I wouldn't put any stock in them.

i'm assuming thats a typo and you meant a 960 4gb and if you look again - they did.

i blame the cpu overhead plus bad support that amd has through many games since dx9.

some of my friends were forced to switch the cpu for the same reason, look at arma games they perform terrible with fx's, once you install an oc i5 most problems are gone lol
amd has to wake up if they want to compete, some benchs might have good avg but the min and frame lag is terrible also the lack of multigpu...
Nvidia also has many problems but they usually fix a week or weeks later not just for current family but old ones as well for example fermi, they fixed the tearing in opengl apps or some support for new versions of api's...

when i had a tahiti in 2013 did amd fixed the problems with mantel in games like BF4? no they didn't.(some games run perfectly but unnecessary ex plantsvszombs) even r9 refresh gpus didn't crashed as much as the old ones...i was forced to upgrade for something else cos the mantle and dx11 perform terrible or it wasnt stable

"optimal" in what sense? you can just keep throwing money at it and it'll become peerless.
what we need is performance per dollar, not a bunch of raw numbers saying "this rig is the fastest".

its much more sensible to do a "reach the target goal while using the least amount of money".
e.g. which combination will cost the least while easily capping 120FPS max settings.

Interesting that at 1080p the 970 is a little faster than the 780 ti
at 1440 the 780ti pulls ahead
and then at 4k the 970 pulls back ahead
