How much for mouse modding?

Hey

For example if I send my G303 and Rival 100 to a person who is able to put 3366 sensor to Rival 100 and I pay all postage costs, so how much would you ask for work like that? Id probably pay something like 150€ + postage max if the build quality is top notch. Opinions? Is here a business opportunitity for skilled mouse experst? If so, maybe somebody would pay even more for their desired dream mouse (like up to 1000€/$)?

if you sent your mice to someone don't be that sure he'll give em back
learn how to do yourself or give up.. it's tottaly not worth it in the first place even if you have the money
my 2 cents

Well I disagree. I think people who have barely the money it's not worth, but someone who has steady income it's not a big deal.

Also interested in this, I would love to send a g100s to someone who could add a mouse button 4 and 5. Atleast a 4.

Here's the long and short of it.

The short
Not all mouse boards are interchangeable.

The long
Mouse boards aren't a universal platform, they can varry; the two key ones here would be size of the board and available inputs. You can make a kinzuadder because the boards are 'roughly' the same size. 3d printing could be an option but again, you'd need to alter the size most likely to fit in 2 more buttons.

There are a ton of different mice out there. I would be willing to bet that the mouse shape, button layout and sensor you are looking for is already out there.

Considering I made two frankenmouse projects (ime3.0 with g400 internals and G3 from logitech with G400 internals) id say this is really not possible.

In order to create a mod you need several things to fit together. You cant fit a small mouse with a huge board. The biggest thing in all of these build, atleast for me, was making usre the scroll wheel works.

In terms of a business venture, you have to consider the time taken to perform the task. Someone who's got all the equipment & skills would likely shy away because, given their skill set, they probably earn a considerable amount/hour in their current occupation.

Personally I'd encourage you to try and build it yourself, especially if you've got €150 to spend on necessary stuff!

That would be:

Dremel/Rotary tool & bits
Soldering iron, solder, desoldering pump, flux, station, 22 to 30awg wire (solid core is often best for this)
Multi/Volt Meter
Screwdrivers, craft knife
Adhesive: super glue, plastic putty etc

Have I missed anything?

Could be done though in case the mod has been done before. Kinzu Adder comes to mind.

I don't think that mod is practical. You could however try G502 PCB in a G100S.

I have g402, maybe in g100s? I dont like the 402 anyway, the 100s is one of my favorite shapes in the mouse world. I need to learn more as I just recently discovered mouse modding. But collecting mice has became a hobby of mine as I am always searching for the perfect fit. Does anyone have any references or good posts they would like to share for a beginner learning about modding PCB's n such? I dunno just taking a shot in the dark here smile.gif
