I never made the assumption. I went as far as to say life sucks and is unfair, because it is.

If you don't own a CC, sucks to be you...There are, however, always other options.

Also, as per your assumption, yeah, no. Sorry.

That's his total net worth, not that he's actually worth that.

That's not what I asked for proof of.

I asked for proof specifically in regards to Steam blocking accounts based on repetitive refunds.

It's even in Steam's own FAQ.

My point was that everyone keeps throwing around "work for the money" or "use Steam" as if that's a choice for everyone all the time. Plenty of people work their butts off and fingers to the bone every day and still couldn't afford a game after working a week. So there for because of that SCREW THEM! THEY AREN'T ALLOWED LUXURY ITEMS! Yeah, because that's fair. Has nothing to do with your random birth in a country that allows people these privileges. Go work in some third world countries and work like they do and get paid like they do and tell me that pirating a game or movie isn't going to interest you when the only thing you might be able to afford is a VHS copy of Murder She Wrote.

It's a backwards way of thinking. The USA isn't everywhere else. We're lucky. We get luxury items because those that can't afford them make them for us. So there's no reason why they should get them...lesser thans!

As far as DRM goes I hope everyone that supports it won't mind not being able to play the games they paid for when the servers that support their authenticity shut down like has happened with some Securom games. Those old PC games of yesteryear I can still enjoy because I don't need to activate them...before DRM PC gaming was just absolutely doomed, huh? Either way, that's off topic and not the point of my argument.
Life is not fair. Deal with it. Being poor does not grant you any privilege. Piracy is bad,and nothing is going ever to justify it.

You seem the only one crying here instead of accepting facts as they are.

Bad, but not illegal. The moral outlook of it depends on cultural in the regions surroundings. Who are we to criticize others?

Your claim alleges that this HAS happened.

Steam's policy is:
Quote:
Is there a limit to how many purchases I can request a refund for?

You can submit any number of refund requests for eligible purchases.

If it appears that you are abusing the refund system, we reserve the right to revoke access to this feature.

Unless you have evidence that this specifically HAS happened, it's a fallacy.

Piracy IS illegal, unethical and unlawful.

There is nothing you can say that justifies and/or changes that premise.

No.

I'm aware of that. That was a warning, he told Steam why, it was handled dutifully and lawfully so.

Your claim is that people have had their accounts held. This has NOT happened.

Please stop spreading misinformation.

Held doesn't imply the whole account. Your account can be held in many ways such as a return. Like when you rent a hotel room or something on your credit card and the transaction on the account is held in case of damages.

No. Stealing is the same here and the whole planet. And yes it's illegal,as much as stealing something. When you pirate, you're depriving the delevoper of a rightful sale. You're obtaining his property, without giving anything for it.

How is that not stealing? rolleyes.gif

Moral outlook has nothing to do here. Just because people think it's not bad,it does not mean it is not.

Yes it is. You are illegally (since you're not doing something that is permitted by law) obtaining AND using that content without a license.

Your semantic-laden argument holds no ground.

In fact, to go a step further, most of the pirated content has EULA's which, again, fervent violation once clicking I agree when you're knowingly not in possession of a license.

- FYI - If you're going to take a moral stance, use language that supports you...Not language that disproves your theory via the dictionary. - Just a thought.

I'm not saying it isn't illegal, I'm criticizing this overused and illogical analogy of someone robbing you. Those are fundamentally different things, a key difference, among others, being that a pirated copy isn't a lost sale.

I'm not saying there's nothing to be debated, I'm saying this sort of "argument" (comparing to theft or robbery) is nothing but an emotional appeal, and it contributes NOTHING to the discussion. Rarely is an analogy really necessary.

You're in for a shock when you find out your sense of morality is only "objectively correct" in your head.
