Hi guys,

I currently have a Supermicro X9SRi-F w/ a E5-1650v2 and recently bought a Dell 5K monitor, 980Ti card, and a Samsung 950 Pro M.2. Unfortunately, the PCIe slot placement required me to get the liquid cooled version of the 980Ti so that the second PCIe slot was not covered so that I could plug in an adapter board for the Samsung 950 Pro M.2. After some messing around, I cannot get the typical 2600+MB/sec read speed that others see. If I place the (currently old AMD unit) graphics card in a different slot and put the SSD in the x16 slot, I get the fast read speeds.

This has me thinking of just biting the bullet and upgrading the whole machine. I recently bought a Fractal Design R5 with mind towards liquid cooling since I have the video card. I also read that the v3 Xeons are unlocked and can be overclocked and since I'm already water cooling...

My question: Should I wait for the next E5-16XXv4 processors to come out? I was thinking about the Asus X99-E WS/USB 3.1, but was wondering why it seems they are out of stock everywhere. Either it's very popular or the board is on the way out. I know that board is CEB-sized and the R5 is ATX. Does anyone know if it'll fit? Otherwise, I can go with the Asus X99-ws/ipmi, which is ATX.

Any comments/thoughts/advice is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Chester
