It should be pretty obvious from the context of the posts before mine that by "die shrink" I meant "process shrink". But I'll be more careful with semantics from now on.

I think GP104 chips should come with 8GB minimum, but who knows at this point. And for some reason I don't see Pascal having an issue overclocking like mad.

It's not libel since the poster isn't making any false/harmful statements about a particular person.

But I do think it's silly fear-mongering. The GTX 980 is a great card and will likely remain so for a while to come.

"1080" is be a bit faster than GTX980 Ti. Probably $100 cheaper and with "Nvidia Optimization" look faster. Even now GTX780 Ti will keep up with GTX980 both with OC. Forget GTX970. It will never match GTX780 Ti unless game uses more than 3GB.

The 980 launched at $550. The 980ti is going for around $620 right. Assuming the 1080 is the slightly better card, how will Nvidia price it?

I bet around the same price of the GTX980 at launch.

At the time of launch the GTX 970 was within a few FPS of the 780ti. I know there are a lot of versions of both cards (factory overclocked and stock) but for the most part the 780ti and the GTX 970 was more or less equal, with the GTX 980 a few steps ahead. That was the whole reason I purchased my 970, I was planning to buy a 780ti when the 980/970 launched. I figured the 780ti was enough performance for 1080p (and I could always add another card) so I got a 970, 780ti numbers for $360 (G1 version). I know these results vary with over clocking, I am not sure what kind of numbers folks get with the 780ti but the 970 is quite competent in regards to overclocking (I can run mine at 1550mhz easy while gaming).

I expect 980ti performance in the $350-$400 price point.

Absolutely. I'm just talking about stock for stock speeds since I don't think many people OC (even those that buy $500+ cards since they're afraid they might damage them).

No, you were right. Die shrink is the same as a process shrink: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_shrink

Edit: I'd like to see what they do with the "GTX 1070" card. Hoping for no gimped VRAM setup, even if it's less, and close performance but at much cheaper pricing. Sort of like how the 290 was to the 290X.

So a big fat Pascal Titan first that no one can afford? And then a smaller Pascal without HBM that still doesn't improve performance over 980ti? Sounds strange and not so interesting.

What we probably want first is the equivalent of the 970/980 cards. High level cards that is not Pascal Titan, but that still improves the performance a lot, with HBM.

It's all rumors at this point, though judging by how well Titan X sold, there are more rich gamers (or gamers who're willing to spend drop big bucks) than you might think.

No, because then Titan would be launched too late. They release them every ~12 months to maximize profits. It'll prob be like Titan X was played out. Launches first (in April), sets the hype by all the cool kids buying them and posting how amazing they are (see: http://www.overclock.net/u/318704/), then us poor folks get a chance to play with the cards that have the hand-me-down dies.
