Both The Talos Principle and Serious Sam 3 should be getting updates with the Vulkan API, and Serious Sam 4 will also use it. SS4 certainly will not use the same version of engine as Talos does. It will use a _much_ improved version. Exact details will be revealed when SS4 is officially presented.
Talos will support Vulkan on Launch. SS3 not yet, but maybe later.

Talos principle already looks fantastic and runs really well on OpenGL but its great to see so much early support for Vulkan.

Awesome news!

The Talos Principle is as close as it gets to a masterpiece already in my opinion and indeed looks very good for a puzzle game.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

And Serious Sam is seriously a blast. tongue.gif

It's an outlandish blast. The enemies are ridiculous in shape, behaviour, size and numbers and the action is fast paced. The graphics are quite good, in some scenes it almost looks real due to the nature of the scenery (even though the game is from 2011 already) and the choice of weapons is satisfying. The more you progress in the game the more non stop and satisfying it gets.

In a very distant way it's like playing Doom in the 21st century.

Serious Sam is one of the best PC shooter franchises there is. If you can, get the HD version of the First and Second Encounter, then 2 and then 3 (BFE). Serious Sam 2 is the most different one, many people didn't like it, but I did, it all depends on what you like. But the franchise is excellent.

Wait... They're making a Serious Sam 4?

I loved Serious Sam 2 on my Xbox, I played that game sooo much! Serious Sam 3 didn't really get my attention much though.

Wow, I had no idea Serious Sam 3 came out in 2011, that long ago... Where did the time go?

They've been making Serious Sam 4 for some time now. The Talos Principle wasn't even on the map until they thought that some of the new game mechanics they were developing for Serious Sam 4 could evolve into its own thing.. and that's how The Talos Principle started. So, yeah, Serious Sam 4 has been in development for a while now, with some Talos interruptions along the way.

I'm pretty sure if they let inmates in supermax prisons play Serious Sam 3, there would be no more murders or "accidental" deaths. But really, it's an arcade style shooter so it's just action action action action action action.

Serious Sam 3 was a great game.
My only issue was that they it tried to parody the current shooters a bit too much so it took longer to get into the number of enemies you are used to.
Once it starts tough, it keeps ramping up and ramping till you get to "the canyon".

Pay attention for steam sales and pick up the franchise for cheap, totally worth it.

What exactly does this mean for SS3 Windows users?
