Do not matter how old it is. It is still very valid. SSD VS HDD is a difference.
Suggestion, buy a SSD large enough for OS, software and games you play the most.
250GB is a good size, 500gb is better. Do a fresh install, and you will notice and understand exactly what we are talking about.

15x being presumably an overstatement, but personally, I'm just glad I have an SSD for Blade and Soul. It's unreal, seeing other people with decent PCs but no SSD, and their funny load times as they change areas. I prefer being done loading in 5 seconds, not 30.

Not all games use smart bundling of files, so defragmentation of the disk doesn't even help much then.

Exactly correct. B&S is an MMO, like other out there, WoW, Black Desert, ESO, GW2, Tera, The Division... List can go on.
SSD plays the biggest part for online gaming. No only MMO, even FPS games too.

Pls proof , also doesnt online games reduce the credibility of a good use for gaming as hey often include a mandatory countdown (ie you gotta wait while the other people load on the map and are ready, while you are the first one on the map 'yippy i'm the fastest look at me...uhh anyone here yet ?)
And also again i never said 'there is no difference' but 'how big of a diffrence', i would have already thanked you for the answer and moved on.

It depends on the games you play, I can only provide proof for the games I play. smile.gif

There's no practically downsides to using SSD, though. You either want to have faster load times (1/3 the time or less or more, in cases), or you don't. Up to you.

Technically, you are not looking for proof, you're looking for a review of the stuff you use. (and we don't know what that stuff is.)
I guess a nice starting point would be a google search, for things that probably have been reviewed all over the place, like application startup time, windows boot time, search speed with and without indexing on, stuff like that.

There's a lot of tiny things that make using an SSD as system drive pretty sweet, maybe googling for a comprehensive list of such benefits would be an even better starting point, as a lot of em might not come to mind all that easily.

At the end of the day, I just don't see why I should have load times that are significantly longer than ~10 seconds. That's not how I roll. But that's just me being demanding maybe? Who knows! Everyone's got their own preferences.

Yeaahh, but i already said several times i knew the data i wanted about these notions, except the app load time (comparison hdd ssd, cold hot boot), i'm guessing about already everyone has tried to find the 'proof' i wanted and i would rather not engage an argument about their internet search capacities.

Here's something on apps (searching ' "application" startup time ' cut down on boot time content)
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-upgrade-hdd-performance,3023-12.html
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izwZWOY4_60

edit: here another thing, though mac specific (shouldn't make much difference) http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-notebook-portable,1913-5.html

edit: some dude starting chrome on different systems, one SSD based one HDD based https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5VRzgtKmeg

If you get used to SSD, you'll notice when you use a system on an HDD, at least. It won't be terrible, since you don't open a webbrowser or actually heavy software all the time, but you'll definitely notice it.

This test scenario tries to mimic what happens when you power up your PC and want to use multiple applications right off the bat, such as Microsoft Office components or tools like Skype, a browser, an instant messenger, and a picture viewer.

Old because nobody cares at this point. Nobody ever made a claim they solved HDDs being unresponsive for opening apps. People moved on to just buying SSDs, and as such, nobody cares to actually make HDDs feel as snappy as SSDs at this point.

And I have never heard of a hot app boot, what is that.

edit: anyhow, whenever I visit a certain friend in real life, I keep pestering him about getting an SSD (well, not too seriously). Since it's just noticeable he's on an HDD, when starting up the browser/apps and loading up games mostly. Fresh Win10 install cannot solve how fundamentally poor App startup performance is on HDD. (you'd need to some some seriously sophisticated optimizing of physical data location for sequential read, plus pair it with some sort of predictive caching. But nobody seems to be doing this for general apps. Also gets impractical, if it's a multi GB app. Can't cache that fast enough. If anything, you see a handful game devs batch their assets, so if not fragmented, you can actually cut down on load times a bit that way.)
