the r9 nano cant be matched...

If they don't get their Polaris GPUs TDP in check, it better be screaming fast to compensate or I'll be skipping that as well.
with node shrink and hbm they will have same perf/watt as nvidia offering or better

If were talking about $500 GPUs, then you have a point. The Nano is a pretty respectable GPU offering if your willing to go to that price point. But anything over $350ish I would wait for Pascal and Polaris.

I was watching a demo from AMD with one of their upcoming Polaris GPUs comparing it to a current Nvidia card. The AMD GPU was pulling 85w and 60FPS while the current nvidia was pulling 150w 60FPS, most likely a GTX 970/980 but they wouldn't say. The problem is they were running Star Wars Battlefront on Meduim settings and Vsync so they may have been using some mid range Polaris GPU just to try and make their GPU seem so much better. I have a feeling their higher end Polaris GPUs will use more like 150w which is still way better than their recent track record. We'll have to see what Nvidia responds with in the coming months.

I literally started laughing out loud the first time we popped in a Windforce R9 290 and started up furmark to test some overclocking. Temps shot straight to 95°C. Replacing the thermal paste brought it to 92°C. It essentially turned the computer into a space heater and was downright hilarious. I had another friend that sent his back the first day he bought it because it was so bad (Asus DCUII).

If heat output would bother you, spending a few extra on a GTX 970 would be a good buy. Both perform essentially the same but isn't as good price / performance when considering the really low price of used 290/x available.
Yeah, basically the wrong version of 290(along with Asus). [Source]

I have the windforce and temperature are correct with the stock cooler. Who the hell use furmark?! The max I've seen was around 80 in benchmark overclocked. It is not a very good cooler but for the price, it is an amazing card. The gtx 970 is much more expensive.
