4790k Delid results

Thread Starter
Just want to say thanks to silicon lottery. Took advantage of their delid sale and sent them my 4790k which I got back over the weekend. Before sending it in I was running 4.8 Ghz with vcore set to 1.29v and temps were spiking to 85c. After delid temps went down over 15C and now stay below 70C with the same overclock applied. I am now able to push it to 5Ghz at 1.41v and temps still are not as high as they were at 4.8 before delid. I am a bit annoyed at intel that I needed to do this in the first place, but I am glad silicon lottery offers this service as I did not want to risk doing it myself. All my questions were answered within a few hours and it only took a week to get it back once I shipped it out. I will definitely be looking to buy from them in the future when its time for my next upgrade. thumb.gif

WOW thats a grate idea for a starter company, cudos to the people that started it.
What do you guys do with the CPU's that dont meet your standards, Repack them and sell them as new?
I wouldnt blame you if you did.

It would be cool if you guys bought CPU's from individuals as well.
For example, if I could prove that I owned a 4790k capable of a stable 5ghz you guys could buy it and sell used.

Does this process have any effect on the warranty?

We sourced partners who don't care about overclocking and they buy them from us as used at a small discount.

We don't buy processors from individuals, simply because they are used. Everything we sell on our site is new besides the brief hour or two of testing. There are of course exceptions to this where I may be interesting in purchasing or even let you sell your chip on our site indirectly (extreme cases, pre-delid 5.2GHz Haswell/5GHz Skylake, 4.9GHz Haswell-E.)

You should assume any Intel warranty void on a delidded processor.
