You're well aware of Dx11.3, right? Nobody is going to say that Dx11.3 had much Mantle inspiration. And Dx12 probably has a lot of features of Dx11.3.

So yeah, might as well say that Dx12 is based on Dx11.3. But Dx12 is not Dx11.3, for a reason or another.

Itanium not Xeon. IA-64=Itanium and has a very small marketshare.  X86-64 is the defacto standard for 64-bit processors now. So yes,  x86-64=Xeon and Opteron.

 

Also, the software industry refers to x86-64 in both AMD and Intel processors as AMD64 despite Intel's implementation being labeled as EM64T or Intel 64.

We do know that DX12 and Vulkan are comprised of some Mantle components. To assume anything other than they've had some mutual crossover workings is incorrect.

Which is completely fine but to say that DX12 exist because of Mantle like some people here claim is silly.
Of course developers will use good ideas from other technologies, not doing so would be stupid.

Obviously there would've been a DirectX12 without Mantle, some day. But if it would feature the much hyped/desired low-level hardware access is questionable.

Discussing the "what if"s isn't as exciting though as speculating on when we will actually see games utilizing the new tech, other than Oxide's early access title and the upcoming Fable. From all I heard/read it dx12 is a challenge to game developers...so I fear broad implementation is still far away..?

Microsoft's track record for some day isn't very good. Yeah it would've came out eventually. It also wouldn't have any distinct features it has today, personally a lot of things need to be discussed with a DX12 developer to get real answers as to the chicken or egg statements.

Ouch. That hurts to read, there's so much fail in there.

You might need to educate yourself on that. Intel capitulated and implemented AMD64 wholesale when IA-64 became such a dud. By then the Athlon was entrenched.
