the 4770k is fine and so is hte 16gb ram, but 780 is over-performing for what i do (which is spend time online) so a 710-740 should be fine, much rather pay that in the form of cpu/ssd upgrade

Your 4770k's iGPU is twice as fast as the 710.

Not really, they just show the overall average of performance. If you download their software you can compare individual performance per test. Obviously different CPUs are going to perform better under different instruction sets.

If you're not worried about power draw you could get an older GPU used for about the same price with better performance.

I just picked up a 740 for my office machine, too bad this didn't get announced last week. These low end GPU's are great for multi screen use in 2d environments, sometimes it's hard to find a mobo you want (at a price you want) that will support 3 monitors.

I'm pretty impressed with the GT545. It's comparable to the HD4870 while only needing PCI-e power.

Some if those cards are a steal for the performance they offer. Just remember to get the right one. There are so many versions of the same model. My HTPC card is the GDDR5 2GB 384 Core version of the GT730 and oc'd to 1200 core kicks ass. At 1200 it gets similar performance to a GTX650 (non ti) and GTX460. All that without a power connector. But there are versions of the GT730 with GDDR3 and only 96 cores. nVidia should have called those at least GS730.

I could be satisfied with integrated intel graphics on most of my machines if their drivers were any good at all. In most games and applications, especially in linux, I would get better performance from a gt 710 than an intel 530, despite that fact that the intel igpu is at least twice as powerful.
So....color me straight.....even the cheapest intel i3-6100 has full hardware hevc 8bit decode and hybrid hevc 10bit decode, not to mention hybrid VP9 decode too.

And here, we got nvidia 'old' kepler architecture that only support hybrid hevc 8bit decode only? Hmmm.........

It would be better if nvidia releases mini variant of GTX950 cut down with full fixed function decode for 8bit/10bit HEVC + VP9........

Not sure what you are specifically saying is embarrassing (hopefully the GT 730 in which I agree) but comparing an APU to Intel HD graphics is not a fair comparison when Iris Pro destroys any APU on the market:

Yes but when both AMD low-end dGPUs and APUs are not exactly flying off the shelves you can see how this also affects AMD as much as it affects NVIDIA.
