Well, its seems like DD is a dx9 title, so no tessellation. What looks like tessellation are the high res textures. It explains the same frames i get. I'm not drunk, so i cant explain how i got those initial results. I managed to get a nice headache trying to figure out what was going on though. Ugh.

Is the game fun? Because if the game sucks, I'm not going to give a damn about how great the shadows are.

Not saying graphics don't matter. I'm just saying this video to me is more of a "why should I care so much?" kinda thing.

It's many subtle graphical effects that add to up give overall image fidelity. Your brain thinks it's more real, even if you don't consciously notice all the individual features. I must say, I just got this game last night and the graphics are amazing at 1440p high/very high settings. Also, it has the best character modeling and animation in any game I've seen (except for the floating hair). The gameplay is fun as hell, which goes to show that gameplay and graphics are not mutually exclusive.

I would recommend everyone try out an injector like Sweetfx though because I think the graphics are a tad washed out.

Here is the reason why the game performs poorly on AMD GPU's.

Yes, you are seeing this correctly!

What the hell is this? And people said single core gaming is dead! lachen.gif

Only joking, but that is absolutely bizarre!

I hope AMD already know this and has fixed it for 16.1.1 driver.

Dear god that is atrocious.
Quote:
Here again we see an FPS plot relative to percentiles. This is the Radeon R9 Fury. Watch and observe it closely, the red line is the one core configuration ... it is the fastest with 43 FPs at 50% of the rendered frames = Average FPS. It is then followed by the 8 core install at 39 FPS, then the 4 core is lower at 36 FPS and finally the 2 core setup does 33 FPS on average. In total there's a 10 FPS differential !

I think we found a root core of the performance issues, they seem to be related to the number of CPU cores. It is mind boggling to see that with the Radeon the 1 core setup remains to be the fastest. Here you will also notice that with a 2 core processor setup we have micro-stuttering going on whereas the 1, 4 and 8 core setup are fine. After seeing this it is without doubt that AMD will need to do a thing or two with driver optimizations.

*sigh*

Does anyone know the size/funding difference between NV/AMD's driver teams? Is AMD's team significantly smaller, or are they a bunch of chimpanzees? tongue.gif Or is their hardware/architecture just more difficult to deal with?

They let themselves down so badly on the driver side.. Every time someone is looking to buy a new GPU for a new game they see Nvidia on top.. They leapfrog them down the road, but they've already lost out on sales by then.
this is not AMD fault
there is gameworks and other nvidia crap in this game so it take while to optimalize for it
also this game have asynch shaders code on console which is disabled for PCs...
