well have you tried Witcher 3 with 90-100fps and g-sync? Like fighting a pack of wolves, guards or monsters.
I guess it doesn't matter if you ride your horse and stare at the views instead of playiing it more like an action RPG.

to each his own, I prefer a good balance, instead of 4K 40 fps and Ultra settings I prefer 1440p around 90 fps with g-sync and a combination of high and very high settings. Of course 4K is better in static shots or just casual running, but I like to have super smooth and fast response while fighting too,no stutter whatsoever.
I just wonder sometimes if AMD cards are preferred for higher resolution at the cost of low fps or higher resolution is preferred for AMD cards cause they can't run lower resolutions ("lower" like in 1080p/1440p) at higher fps.
What I mean is it always like:"I'm choosing AMD cause I wanna play at 4K and 30 fps" or "My card can't run higher refresh rates with lower resolutions, like 1440p at 100fps/100hz,so I'm gonna go for 4K and be happy with 30 fps cause it's the best it can do".

Higher fps in Witcher 3 for example does not make you fight better. Most moves take time to execute. If games run 30 fps in Consoles you know 60 fps will be ideal. If games run 60 fps in consoles than 120Hz will be ideal. Games like COD, BF4 etc.

I didn't say it makes you fight better,so don't twist my words. But if you say that figting a pack of enemies at 40 fps or 90 fps with gsync feels the same then we'd better end this thiscussion cause we are on two different wavelenghts, sir. smile.gif

For you it may not, but for some people like myself it does. The input lag caused by 40fps would just not be enjoyable to me.

Even in GTA V I make sure I sustain over 100fps due to the input lag when i'm driving if I drop below that. It's very noticeable to me.

CoD's engine is actually ideal at 125fps/333fps. It's a game engine thing.

Not everyone will notice the input lag, but for those of who do. It causes quite the eye strain.

Going from 1440p 80fps to 4K 40fps was better for me in Witcher 3. In other games its not worth it. Its hard to explain 4K to most people. Like going 120Hz+ going 4K everything else looks pretty bad.

Yeah I don't really see the difference between 1440p and 4K once I'm playing and not taking static shots, for some reason you see a big one but okay I'm gonna take that as the reason why you vouch for 4K so much, same as you don't see one between 40 fps and 80 fps, which is really rather amusing to me but if you say so....
80 fps vs 40 fps is like an overwhelming difference for me, this is literally twice as good, while I would call 4K vs 1440p difference rather not that much visible in gameplay. Certainly doesn't look twice as good. I mean while I'm moving fast, like running or jumping rooftops in Assassin's Creed, at 40 fps and 60 hz I really can't distinguish 4K details when there's so much blur and lag.

well if I had a 1080p 144Hz display the 980Ti is the #1 card I'd like to see in my rig.

Well that's good for you. That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm not spending more than $400+ for 1080p performance. I can get 1080p gameplay from much cheaper cards in the $150-300 range.

I play many games at 4K 100% maxed with little to no issues at stock clocks. If I do need more fps @ 4K I'll turn down a few settings. Usually the only setting I need to decrease is the Anti-Aliasing settings. 4K @ a steady 30fps+ is enjoyable depending on the game and the graphics. I've watched Blu-Ray movies @ 24p and never felt nauseous. A steady 24 to 30fps game has never made me feel like I was going to throw up. I've tested many games and they all give me great performance at 4K. I normally game @ 1440p\1600p and 4K. 1080p isn't on my radar.

yes,I get it, you don't see any point in having anything more than 60fps/60hz. Some ppl do.
I don' really get that movie-game comparison. I'm okay with 24 fps movies, although I do see they're not 60 fps ones. Why wouldn't I be okay with that, I'm not steering the characters in the movie with my mouse. I feel strange having to literally spell it out that it's actually a difference.
