For sure. Side stuff is pointless though. Just collect stuff. It's not like they are side quests. Its so hard to pay $60 for a game that is shorter than just one of Witcher 3 expansion.

This is why I wait for $10 on steam sale for on-the-rails games like this that walk you through a narrow path for a main story. The last tomb raider and other on-rails games like Bioshock are allot of fun, but I cant justify paying $60 for a 10hr game. I might pay $20 if I really wanted it, but that's all. Luckily, almost every single on-rails game like TR is below $20 in under 6 months after release.

What's good or worth it is all a matter of opinion though. I got Witcher 3 for free with a video card and felt like I screwed myself by choosing it over The Run.

Rise Of Tomb Raider is well worth the $60 to me.. It's nowhere near as dense as something like TW3 or Fallout 4, so bang for ya buck it doesn't compete. But in production value, visuals and story it easily beats out F4 imo. I haven't played TW3 yet, so i can't really comment.

Comparing time played is a bit of a double edged sword, the actual story length can be very deceptive, a lot of the campaign time in an open-world title is spent running to the areas/missions, or standing their watching a generic moron with un-synced lips babble on for 10 minutes.. Whereas with tripple A linear games, they break up the play time with multi-million dollar cut-scenes. I guess I'm saying that value is whatever someone likes, you can't really say that more hours = better.

I'd buy a game like TR, Gears, Uncharted, TLOU, Bioshock etc., over 99% of the open-world titles out there, i don't care if they offer hundreds of hours of stuff to do, give me an amazing experience for 10-20 hours over a boring 100 any day. There are exceptions for me like like Red Dead, Fallout, Witcher etc., but those story's actually benefit from an open-world, most don't. Maybe it's just me but I'm getting bored with open world games.

Well said gorillasceptre and I feel the same. I quit playing witcher 2 about half way in cuz it seemed all I did was run back and forth to the same place to do lame little missions. I def like this new tomb raider and its alot of fun with some decent graphics in 4k.

RotTR seems to use a lot of old assets from TR 2013, and shares a lot of level design with it. I wouldn't call it great production value.

This game has some of the worst shimmering I've seen in any game, period. The soviet camp and geothermal valley look downright garbage because of it. Needs TAA in a patch ASAP.

Ok just finished TR2013 and I liked it.
About to buy new one. But heard sli scaling really bad and heavy vram usage is there, so it may stuggle on 3gb780sli + 3770k +16gb? What performance to expect on my rig at 1440p? Tnx!

there ARE side quests and there ARE a lot of big tombs to explore and solve and you miss out on all of that if you just follow the yellow marker for main story. just like most games with open world elements, they are as long as you want them to be.

devs could have went zelda style and make all tombs mandatory to explore, but then people with short attention spans would be mad cos it's too long. can never make everyone happy.

9 puzzle tombs

Done them all , pretty easy puzzles actually. Easier than the first game

Awesome game but I can see why people might think it's a bit short
