People don't want bloatware?

Paint is a bloatware, calculator is a bloatware, the clock in the taskbar is a bloatware, the calendar is a bloatware, windows media player is a bloatware, notepad is a bloatware etc...

The whole windows idea is a bloatware.
A virtual desk, with a lot of tools for the user.
A central place where you can do and have everything: draw, calculate, play games, listen to music, watch movies, write a book, know what day/month/year/time is it.

Windows 7 also include all of those.

Now windows 10 users have one more tool for their traveling needs..
Personally i don't travel and i'd rather buy a new graphic card.

If you're not happy, don't run the app or simply uninstall it.

Really though, it's not a huge deal. You can, of course, uninstall. And is this really different than what any phone comes preloaded with? Or even some Linux distros - remember the Ubuntu fiasco with the built-in Amazon search bar?
For now.

I recall saying the same thing about phone bloatware. These days you sometimes need to root your phone just to get rid off bloatware that they won't let you uninstall. Meanwhile, the government passed such loose legislation, that rooting is technically illegal.

The bottom line is, things are getting worse. Competition is abysmal because of things like lobbying, access to cheap foreign slaves workers copyright and patent law, and they know it. Monolithic corporations are mirroring one another, focusing mainly on how to hurt the customer - not their competition.

If you're not happy, don't run the app or simply uninstall it.

Windows has almost always shipped with a clock, paint, notepad, and a calculator. Those are all light / small apps that have been included since 2.1 if I recall correctly.

Windows has not always shipped with built in Mail, Candy Crush (a microtransaction game), and if you want Solitare or Freecell now you get ads, OneDrive, 3D builder, Cortana, Groove Music, Maps, Edge, Money, News, OneNote, Phone Companion, MS Store, Sports, Weather, xbox, App Suggestions for Office, Skype, etc... And you didn't get nagware popups. That's all extra BS that manufacturers used to install in prebuilt systems. But I guess you don't think prebuilt systems come with bloat either. rolleyes.gif

If you can't understand the difference between a utility and bloatware, you probably have little experience with Windows over the past 25 years.

edit: Oh, and it's hilarous that you say "If you're not happy, don't run the app or simply uninstall it. So that's at least 17 apps that came preinstalled that I have no desire for or would rather use other 3rd party options. What was your point again?

I caved in and installed windows 10 out of boredom, really wish I didn't. With 7 my memory would idle at 12% used while this sits at 20%, there is always so much stuff running in the background checking etc. You close programs and they linger so you have to go into task manager to end the process, then there is all the awful apps. The fact that microsoft edge gets used even when you dont use it, ccleaner always cleaning something from it. Then if you disable cortana because you dont want that spy garbage you loose the abilitiy to quick search windows in the start menu like you can in 7.

If you are thinking on upgrading from 7 for the sake of it I would think again, if it aint broke dont fix it.

Well, yes. But Windows has always been bloatware. That has been one of its problems, at least since Windows 2.11 (the first version I worked with). FWIW Windows 3.0 and 3.1 were panned for being hideous resource hogs when they came out.
