i7 4790k reaching 90-95C with no OC! - Page 2

Thread Starter
Thanks for the support. The fans are running at their full 2000 rpm (which is decent). I will tighten the screws and hopefully I don't have to reinstall the cooler, as it's kind of a pain in the butt and I honestly am really stressed at the moment and holy **** this is a long sentence like honestly I don't even know what I'm doing with my life at this point in time, why on earth am I still typing.

Haha settle down a bit biggrin.gif if this is your first build then dont worry everyone here has been in that type of a situation at some point. I know Ive been there but just keep a basic checklist to make sure everything is in place and turn it on! I did the same with my first watercooling rig and everything turned out perfect. Definitely sounds like the cooler isnt seated tight and tightening down the screws should help the heatspreader make better connection.

a properly seated cooler should not wobble at all... are you sure you used the mounting kit on the cooler correctly?

push pins coolers generally suck when it comes to mounting pressure. a cpu cooler should not wobble at all. it should be firm enough to take out the whole mobo+cooler when you grab it by the heatsink and not move. also, get a new paste and be sure to only use a drop in the centre of IHS.
patience is key, so keep calm, do your research and you'll sort out the problems.

I would remove the heat sink and reapply it and thermal compound. I would check for proper fitment and making sure the heat sink is secure, not sure what you are stressed about the problem won't solve itself if you don't fix it. For something as important as the heat sink I wouldn't half do it, I would remove it make sure everything is 100%.
