Stressing the CPU, PSU and RAM don’t cause freezes (except once) BUT I can still ping with normal returns. What should I do? Rather, where should I start, by replacing the RAM, PSU, motherboard, CPU....? Thanks in advance.

Scenario & Steps Taken

Hackintosh media server/rendering machine has been working like a charm for about two years, using RealVNC to manage. I hadn’t run Handbrake to encode video for many months. As I tried to encode a video the other day, the system locks. After rebooting, reseating, locks again. Reboot and system acts normally for days and freezes.

Disable all overclocking and XMP profile and return the mobo to defaults. Reboot into Win7, after a few minutes to run stress tests, system locks before I can launch the testing software. Look into the log, two WHEA errors: Reported by: Processor Core, Error Source: Machine Check Exception, Error Type: Internal Timer Error. Several forums suggest stressing the RAM and the PSU.

I remove everything from the mobo except the Win7 SSD in a SATA port. Reboot to run stress tests again, run Intel Extreme Tuning overnight and return to a frozen system. OCCT overnight, Prime95 overnight, AIDA64 overnight no problem. Run Memtest86 for two days AND MemTest86+ overnight, no freezes and no errors found. Boot into Windows, walk away for ten minutes and when I return, the system is locked. Logging HW monitor reports normal activity, no spikes, no dips in voltage and nothing irregular from the RAM nor with the CPU temps and voltages.

Try booting into OS X, all is good. Run Handbrake and successfully encode the same file that started this mess. The machine sits idle

Yesterday, I try to install OS X El Capitan on a space SSD using the mobo SATA port. System locks as is sits idle. Then, after reboot, locks while running MultiBeast (bootloader & kext installer). Reboot and it and overnight without freezing.

Software is useless for testing voltages so if you did that you wasted your time.
But its sounds like its the motherboard that is broken.
