Where did all the fast DDR3 go? What's best available?

I have been toying with upgrading my memory and have noticed that all the 2400 c9, 2600 c10 etc is gone. Is it just not supported now that ddr4 is taking off?

What is the best ddr3 memory available right now for a haswell/Devils canyon setup? Preferably 16gb.
I am looking at perhaps 4x4gb 2133 c8 sticks.

Thanks!

Depends on your budget, when buying DDR3 you should just go for the best value kits now instead of the fastest. I.e. you may be able to nab 1866 32GB for the same price as 2133 16GB. Frequency will drop in price faster than capacity will.

I am much more concerned with performance than budget. Within reason, the kit I mentioned 2133c8 4c4 is $265 to give you an idea.

32gb is intriguing but the 32 kits available seem to have even worse timings. The only 1866 32gb kits I see are c9 for ~$200
Gskill 2400 c10 32gb @$200 is tempting. sure wish it was c9 though :-/

This isn't too bad for the price.

I'd rather have 32gb 4x8 CL10 than 4x4gb of 2133MHz CL8. I'm quietly looking for a good 32gb set over my 16gb 2666MHz CL10.

A higher relative performance gain will be had by upgrading the GPUs than the RAM. Food for thought, thumb.gif

AFAIK DDR3 for Intel chips scales better with frequency, not timings.

Upgrading GPUs? I am running SLI 980ti lightnings. Not sure how much farther I can go there :-)

I found 32gb Gskill 2666 c11 for $397

So right now I am staring at:
$265 16gb 2133c8
$200 32gb 2400c10
$380 16gb 2933c12
$397 32gb 2666c11

Boy I can make a case for any of them.
Thanks to input on here, I am leaning towards one of the 32gb kits.
For a 4770k which do you guys like better?

Sidegrade to Z170 or upgrade to X99? SLI 980 Tis, you running 4K? biggrin.gif

DDR4 is here to stay, so DDR3 is just going to keep dropping in price. You might actually save money by sidegrading as the lowest spec DDR4 kits all run 2400MHz with a little extra voltage.

Good call on platform upgrade but CPU, mobo and ram is too much for now. Not sure I'm gaining much besides extra PCI-e lanes. Not enough to justify cpu, mobo, and ram.

I am running 1080 on an ancient monitor until my x34 gets here :-) just shy of 4K, ultra wide and 100hz.
