Can a Noctua C12P SE14 cope with a medium OC?

Thread Starter
I have just bought an i5 6600k and plan on OC'ing it up to 4.0GHz. Would a Noctua C12P SE14 with a new NF-P14R redux-1500 PWM fan be able to cope with this, or would I be best trading up for something like the C14S? Thanks.

Yes...or no....or maybe.

It is entirely dependent on the airflow in your system. If you have adequate case airflow, then yes. If it is starved for cool air, then no.

Then there is the whole silicon lottery to contend with - while 4GHz should be no issue at all, you may wind up with a chip that needs more voltage to get there than the average chip.

You are asking a question that is way too broad, and not giving enough info to answer.

Do keep in mind 'adequate airflow' is not just about having fans that move enough air through the case, but what paths the air flows through the case. You might find some of the posts in "Ways to Better Cooling" linked in my sig helpful. 1st post is index, click on topics of interest to see them.
