How much is it bottlenecking?

Hi guys, I run a Sapphire r9 390 Tri-x 8Gb with backplate with my glorious Phenom II x6 1055T overclocked at 3.8Ghz, NB and HT at 2600Mhz on my Crosshair IV Formula.

I run 3d Mark Firestrike and my Graphic test results were 1500pnts less than the same card at the same speed with an i5 6600 (something like 11900 vs 13500 of the i5 conf). I know that sometimes my cpu can slightly bottleneck my GPU, but 1500 pnts how much of a bottleneck is in the reality?

Obviosly I have no problems in game, i run 1440p on everything with more than 60fps and 45 only in rare case and situations. It was just a curiosity

I'd look at the graphics score, not the total score. I know going from my 2500k to a 6700k my score changed about 1000 points, but my graphics score stayed essentially the same. There might be a SLIGHT bottleneck, but I'd bet if you just look at the graphics score instead of the total, you'll see you're close to the same as everyone else.

I was talking actually of the graphic score. But looking around I saw other 1055T that near my clock (it was 3.7Ghz) scored 1100Mhz in the graphics score and the same as mine in combined and physics score.

So if the same CPU with 100Mhz less than mine let the r9 390 score 1300pnt, why mine is only scoring 11987? They only difference between us was his r9 390 with +40Mhz on Ram

Could be that your GPU OC is slightly unstable, or that your GPU is throttling.

Sorry for the ignorance, what is throttling and how can be solved?

i5 2500K at 4.9GHz bottlenecked my 290 1100/1600 only slightly at 1440p, but enormously at 1080p,even tough it was only 60Hz. I'm not talking about avg fps but fps dips. This is of course not related to the CPU lacking power but rather AMD's infamous overhead. Benchmark scores are not a reliable measure for anything.

But what I cannot understand is why with the same cpu the grapics score for me is 1000pnts lower with only 40Mhz less on rams. Is there something wrong with my GPU?

I can barely keep up with your info.
Like I said, benchmarks are not a reliable source of information and are for tossers. how do you know he wasn't lying in the first place, ppl who post benchmark scores are like that.Scored 12.200 points - "I got almost 13.000".
My #1 concern would be how the games run,not some benchmark points.

Ok thanks, mine was just a curiuosity. He could not lie because i looked at the benchmark result on 3dmark website biggrin.gif

I wouldn't think of it any different tongue.gif
390 TriX is still a beast card, I would suggest overclocking it some more and upgrading the CPU. Don't be afraid of up to +100mV extra voltage on the 390, it's perfectly safe but requires turning up the fan speed, try to keep the card around 70 degrees for better OC stability and component safety.
