[Ars] EA lets slip lifetime Xbox One and PS4 consoles sales - Page 2

Don't see that this has been touched yet, however with that amount in favor of PS4 meaning the chip is designed for better async compute... viva better ports to PC as well.. I call this a win for the computing industry TBH combined with the sony VR which will be a big push into VR becoming mainstream

yeah. I do not know a single person here who has an Xbox One actually.

I wonder how it'd look right now if they didn't screw up so bad with the initial 499$ DRM, spying, kinect version of the xbox one, but rather had a 399$ version at launch and a proper E3 presentation with focus on games instead of watching tv, tv, tv, tv, sports, sports, television.

No real surprise. Playstation systems have always sold better than Xbox systems ever since they have both been making consoles. PS2 outsold the original Xbox by over 100 million units. The PS3 came out a year later and was more expensive, but the last time both parties reported sales PS3 was still slightly ahead. The PS4 is the obvious choice as it originally was cheaper and is more powerful with arguably better games.

Me too, goes to show how fast forwarding a video and showing nothing but what happened can be genuinely funny.

It perfectly captures both what the Xbox One was designed to be - it looks like a set-top box / DVR from a cable provider inside and out, with hardware designed for a mix of media and games with clear compromises on the latter - and how cringeworthy these presentations can be - all that constant fake excitement in the presenters' tone, choice of words and general demeanour, all in all, a classic.

Good numbers for X1 as it still outpaced 360 in the same lifespan. I'd buy a second X1 when scale bond, crack down 3 and quntum break launches. PS4 I'm waiting for gravity push 2, UC4. and horizon.

This.

There hasn't been any good PS4 exclusives. I own both PS4 and X1 consoles, and the only PS4 game I own is Last of Us. Every other exclusive game didn't live up to expectations like TO 1886 and Bloodborne was just poor. Even their media player is complete trash not even reading most video file formats from my USB drive. My X1 has played them all so far. Hopefully they release something interesting soon so I have a reason to turn it on this year.

I find X1 has much better exclusives such as Forza 6 / Horizon. Top that with backwards compatible 360 games, and it turned out allot better investment.

Cross platform games get played on PC so my PS4 literally has dust caked on it from never being used.

If we are going by just exclusives, the PS4 and the Xbone are probably tied overall. Bloodborne and Infamous were both good and I've never played either, but I'll take your word on Forza and Horizon being good, then both have a spackling of trash exclusives. Coming down the pipe though, there is Uncharted and Gran Tourismo, vs another boring Halo game.

Given that, and the fact that the cross platform games are running at either higher FPS or higher resolutions on the PS4 and the choice is pretty simple.

If you just want the best exclusives overall, you gotta look at Nintendo, Smash Bros, Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc. etc. win out.

I had both of them at one point, but the exclusives were so sub-par I ended up giving them both away. I'll stick with playing these games on PC and enjoy the 10x better performance with a few trash exceptions like Arkham Knight. Seeing how they treated the PC community, I don't want them to have my money anyway.

I agree that PS4 doesn't have many great exclusives so far, PS1/2/3 all had better exclusives at this point in time. That being said I bought one anyway since Uncharted is around the corner. That and I wanted to play some of the remastered games like Last of Us, Uncharted, GoW 3, etc. I'm a huge sucker for trophies, so usually I will purchase games with fun platinums on my console, and games with very good graphic settings or annoying achievements on PC.

I'd like to see these playstation series come to PS4 (in order):
MAG
Warhawk
Twisted Metal
Jet Moto
God of War
Resistance Fall of Man
Siphon Filter
1440P Extreme.
