Upgrade for streaming

Thread Starter
Hi everyone,

I'm a streamer, and recently I've begun to run into some problems with the new games. My CPU usage will jump to 98-100% usage, and it causes a lot of stutter, and worse, on my stream. I'm not a hardware guru, but I suspect that I need some upgrades to continue streaming.

My hardware is this:
Core i5-3570k overclocked to 4Ghz.
ASRock Z77 Extreme4 mobo.
8 GB DDR 3.
R9 290

I play in 1440p. I was thinking about getting a second 290 or a 390 and do CF, but I've read the stories about microstutter, and I wouldnt be able to live with that.

What do you think? Is it time to upgrade my hardware, and if yes, into what? I've been looking at both the 6700k and the Intel Xeon E3-1231v3, but as I said, I dont know much about hardware.

Thanks.

Hi there, probably your i5 hold you back so if you don't have much money grab a used 3770k, if you have money look at x99 platform (5820k with a mid range mobo and 16 gb will be good ). Don't go with 6700k its to much expensive for quad core.

Thanks for your help. What do you think about the Xeon? The 5820k costs roughtly 418€ in my country, and the Xeon is around 270€

What PSU do you have in that system?
If you are going to add more video cards you are going to have to have a PSU that can handle that.

You could fill out your system under your sig so everyone dont have to ask you what you have in your system all the time.

For this Xeon you will need to upgrade your motherboard too so its not worth it.

I wont mind upgrading my motherboard.

Oh, and I should add, that I wouldnt mind selling my R9 290 either, and go for a better card. If I need to upgrade my motherboard, CPU, GPU and RAM in order to be able to stream the new games, then so be it. Of course I want to save money, where I can, but I'm taking streaming serious, and I would hate not to be able to stream the newest and most popular games.

Well if you are going to add more video cards you are going to need a new PSU as well as your old one is too small for crossfire.
Its also very old so you should upgrade it anyway.

The best options price wise here in Denmark is the EVGA SuperNova G2 and the Corsair RMx.

I'm not entirely sure, that I would like to add a second GPU. I'm very afraid of the microstuttering issue.
