AMD FX9590 5.0 Almost stable

Thread Starter
Here is my setting for the 9590.
It runs fine on all but prime, i get the "0.5 error" on 2 workers.
increasing the Voltage on my ram seemed to make it last longer, error shows up after 1-2 hours.
My ram setup is 2 4gb sticks 1600 and 2 8gb stick 1866 both are kingston hyperx fury (in the bios you will see what i did) can that be the cause for the error?

Hopefully this might help someone to get to the right direction.

and maybe someone knows how to make it more prime stable.

I'd temporarily remove the 2x4GB Ram kit till I had 5.0 stabilized.
It can be tough enough to do without having to deal with mismatched Ram.

I have never been a fan of DOCP and manually enter all Dram specs instead.
I do understand it can make setting up mismatched Ram easier but do this after you have stability.

With the 2x4 kit removed etc try running IBT AVX http://www.overclock.net/attachments/13202
set to "Very High" but watch your temps VERY closely.

Please post results showing HWInfo64 with loaded voltages and freqs in view

Once I have the temperature information available I start Prime95 Large FFT and set the thread count to four. Before starting the torture test I set the affinity to the compute units I am going to test during the run (i.e. cores 0-3 = CU0 & CU1). After starting the test I start reducing the fan rpm until the temperatures reach the same peak level they did during the X264 encode. After you're confident that the CPU is stable, repeat the procedure for CU2 & CU3 (cores 4-7).

It takes twice the time the normal method does, but it won't molest your motherboard or CPU beyond the potential breaking point. Depending on the load line configuration I would recommend that you reduce the core voltage by 6.25 - 12.5mV during the test. Thats just to compensate the difference in load line effect (droop) you will have from the reduced load from running two compute units instead of all four at once.

if increacing ram voltage helps. The plorbem might be ram unstable. Not cpu.
Therefore try running ram at lower freqencies

tried swapping the ram and keeping it at stock. what helped was lowering the cpu to 4.95

Then you'll probally want to just accept that the cpu isn't a good overclocking chip and leave it at 4.95

Personally, I would try the Prime method I quoted from The Stilt since Prime apparently is the issue you're having.

What a shame.
I thought the 9590 "turbo'd" to 5.0GHz, (mine does on the same setup you have).
