Weak Mice signal with USB

Hey guys.

Lately I've been fighting this horrible problem that is slowly destroying my gaming career with no luck. Long story short, every mouse I plug into my pc feels weird, floaty, like I have VSYNC turned on, but I don't. Also when I plugged in my rival lately, it kept disconnecting and reconnecting, until eventually it started working normally.

What I've tried to fix it:

- Re-installing windows twice, reverted back to windows 7
- Tried different USB ports, all behave the same
- Changed CPU thermal paste, as I knew it needed something new, wasn't related to this, and problem was there before I changed it, so no difference here.
- Tried multiple mice, in multiple ports
- Tried Safe mode, and playing around with a bunch of BIOS settings, neither helped.
- Updated BIOS to the latest, also installed an older version. Neither worked.

However, there is ONE interesting fact. I plugged my mouse into the USB 3.0 port instead of 2.0, and it now feels miles more responsive, however the problem is still there a tiny bit, but not as bad as before.

How can mice be affected like this? is it weak USB signal, is my mobo faulty? does my USB not get enough power from my PSU? (650W).

Would appreaciate any help, and I've also posted this in other forum category, just seemed relevant here, because it's mainly mice.

FIXED: graphics card was overheating. removed the dust, positioned it better, problem is now fixed.

Nice to see you got it fixed.

Can you list your specs out of curiosity?

Intel I5 3570K
MSI Z77A-G43
MSI Geforce 660 Ti PE
8 GB hyperX

It's fixed completely now, and it's definitely my motherboard/BIOS update, not anything else.

EDIT: Seem to have fixed it, atleast feels 9000x better than before. I basically went back to the stone age of a BIOS driver... took some 2012 version, one of the most early releases and it seems to have solved it so far.

Interesting, I RMAd my mouse because it felt that way. It was smooth but floaty and also took similar steps as you, it just never felt right. Glad you got it fixed.

My friend.. I take what I said back, the problem was NOT with my motherboard, but rather my graphics card was having huge temperature. I took off the graphics card, cleaned all the dust, I placed it further down in my case so it's further away from any other hardware. Then I, and most importantly, switched my hyper 212 evo cooler vertically instead of horizontal, that way the warm heat doesn't go down to my graphics card, but sideways out.

Now my gpu runs at 33 C idle and ALL my mouse issues are fixed.

I've always thought it was kinda weird that my mobo suddenly affects my mouse, or causes mouse lag.. seems to be my graphics card which overheated.
