PC crashes when trying to install Steam games

First off my apologies if this isn't the right place for issues, I couldn't find a troubleshooting/problems board, anyways...

So I just built myself a new PC, and after installing windows and my video card drivers I went to install some games. Now for some reason, Steam would always queue the update, meaning it would stop the download process, and say it's scheduled 5 minutes from now. While I was on Youtube trying to kill time, my monitor screen turns black, audio to headphones cut out, and my keyboard light turns off. This has happened twice now, and I have no idea whats causing it. Pisses me off because I spent so much time and money building this gaming PC to now not work with goddamn Steam games. I've also checked the Event Viewer, but the only big errors I could see were the sudden system shutdown which I had to do when it crashed. There's also an error saying "The following boot-start or system start driver(s) failed to load: cdrom" I have a removable CD drive that I used to install my windows and drivers (yes I used the discs) but I don't feel like that'd be a huge issue. It's never plugged in a USB port too when the errors came up.

I've also checked the Reliability Manager but once again to no avail did it mention the cause of the crash, only how Windows experienced a sudden shutdown

My specs are an Intel i5-4690K, 8 gigs of ram, MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition, Club 3D Radeon R9 380, 256 gig Sandisk SSD, and a Corsair CS-550 PSU, running Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium

Any and all help is appreciated, thanks!

Have you installed the SATA controller driver for your motherboard? Is your memory in the correct slots according to your motherboard's manual? Are you attempting to overclock anything or have you tweaked any settings in your UEFI? Are all your PSU cables plugged in extra tight and secure?

Yes, I remember installing SATA controller drivers, the only thing I've tweaked in the UEFI would be the boot menu when I had to install windows from my USB CD Drive, and during the building of my PC I checked that my PSU cables were securely plugged in. I haven't overclocked anything, and my memory is in the correct slots

I disabled my Realtek LAN Driver that was part of my MSI drivers, since I'm using a USB Adapter stick and I thought it would be interfering with the Steam download. It no longer causes my PC to crash thankfully, but I'm still getting the "update queued" and schedule the download to 5 minutes from now. I've been trying to download CSGO, and so far I've downloaded about 680 MB of 5.4 GB without crashes. As happy as I am that my PC isn't crashing anymore, it'd be great to still figure out this Steam issue
