They won't. Optimization takes place with Beta. Ubi's idea of optimization is to downgrade graphics for an FPS boost. It's quick, cheap and easy that way.

You're right, it is a Beta, I should have mentioned that more in my post.

Performance improvements for the game may occur, alongside improved drivers.

However I doubt the visuals will improve much, if at all.

I'm more interested in the gameplay than the visuals but this downgrade stuff annoys me enough though I'm more focused on the gameplay.

That was more in regards to people saying the 'performance' isn't there. We already know you're harping on the downgrade; Keep preaching though. Wake me up when the final game is released and we get actual game ready drivers from NVIDIA and it still doesn't perform well, then I'll listen to people. Pitchfork emporium is that way ->

I really dont expect an opitmized engine from Ubi (look at siege), but i'm still interested in the multiplayer. Now that was fun. I want to see how Ubi slices and dices the dlc. If the dark zone is small fraction of the game, then i'll pass.

What's so bad about the performance? Looks stellar to me.. Only thing is CF/SLI, and that should be implemented at full release.

When compared to a similar open world game, the division is behind in frames. Yes, its a beta, but i have no confidence in Ubi optimizing the engine at this point (the game is out in march). Look at the 970 numbers. Theres about a 15 frame difference.

You can't seriously be comparing two different game engines' FPS to make your point, right? Please tell me you're joking.

The Division looks and runs great. I played it at 1440p max settings ( minus Nvidia PCSS shadows ) and FPS was consistently 45-60 outside, 70+ inside. Whether or not there was a downgrade, I could not tell you UNLESS I was able to actually go to the same area as seen in the first E3 demo.

Seeing comparisons on youtube does not do the game justice since the dynamic TOD/weather will make the game look either better or worse; ie lighting outside is at its best at dusk/dawn. In the E3 trailer there is a blue tint, yet in the beta you do not get that UNLESS you are at a specific time of day.

Also, the 970 is a bad card for recent games compared to the 390. 3.5GB of vram will do that to you. The 390 is what should be the standard but people are silly enough to buy the 970 because 'omgnvidia'.

Both are open world games with night/day cycles that look similar. There is a substantial frame difference between the two games. 2 different engines? Yes, Ubi has the one that is less optimized. My point still stands.

Besides the fact that they are different engines/genre's of games, using only a 970 as an example doesn't make a strong point. How do we know that only that particular card is having.. Issues? redface.gif

Graphics wise I'd say TW3 and TD are quite close, The Division is also a multiplayer game, that takes up large amounts of resources that The Witcher doesn't have to deal with. People can scream Ubifail all they want, in this case, the game is very well optimized. I mean, a single 290 is getting 70fps @ 1080p.. I get the "downgrade" comments, because the game definitely looks worse than the reveal, but the "terrible performance" part leaves me headscratch.gif ..
