Come off it already.

I know postaltwinkie what are you talking about. But lets talk about something else. Exclude The Division from this.

780 was on release around 25-30% faster and the OG titan around 35-40% faster than a 7970/280x. Now 7970 match both of them.

Nvidia still supports them this is not false. Maybe the 780 was a strong card for that period, maybe we were all victims of marketing ,maybe amd sucks with their drivers, maybe 7970 is a legendary card that can keep up with everything after 4 years. But i am disappointed that 780 lasted so much. I expected more from this card. I dont want to comment about OG titan because we all know about the stock freqs and the stock bios.

Their drivers are highly tuned in relation to this. As for AMD, the GCN architechture has a very deep and complex pipeline with a tone of available processing cores/shaders. This is well suited for a low level API, which will allow the whole GPU to be fed with data properly and optimally. DX11 is very limiting to GCN and stops much of the GPU from ever being utilized. That's why Nvidia win the benchmarks despite GCN being the far supirior architecture in terms of raw power.

The GCN architecture is beautiful, its just a shame it ran into it's limitations with the Fury cards.

The 7970 and 7950 are legendary cards, even the Tonga variants keep up alongside them, and especially well against NVIDIA's newly deployed GTX 960.

However the whole thing about the 7970 matching the 780... I'm not so sure about that, I'm gonna have to look up on some benchmarks.

I've just had a look at TechPowerUp's R9 390 review.

[TechPowerUp] Sapphire R9 390 Nitro 8 GB

What the hell is this? That 380X is creeping up dangerously close. It's a Tonga variant of the 7970, but it's soooo close to the GTX 780 it's bizarre!

In alot of the benchmarks it's within 10-16% of the GTX 780, or even beating it.

Did AMD unlock the Trans-Am System on GCN?

Postal, you keep ranting and calling this game trash. I 100% understand the frustration from the downgrades from the 2013 footage we saw that was supposed to be on a Ps4. lachen.gif However all the broken promises etc etc does not make the game trash. Imo it makes Ubisoft more of trash for trying to trick their consumers. What the game in its current state is trying to do, at least imo it does well. The Dark Zone is a blast and you always have to be on your toes. The one mission they let you do was fun, but not great imo. The time I spent in the beta with members from my ff14 clan was nothing but fun and that is what I want out of a video game.

On a side note, I saw people earlier in the thread mention that the dark zone felt empty at times. The reason for this is they lowered the amount of npc's from the alpha to the beta, so hopefully they bring those npc's back.

At what point do the masses stop letting the "This is beta, it will change" lie stop tricking them? I am not talking about the subjective things, like if the Dark Zone is fun or not, I stated that earlier. I am looking at this from a purely subjective/technical point. Does it have the technical features they advertised? How does the product run itself? Those sort of questions.

Once upon a time "Beta" was considered to be just that, a Beta. A near complete product, any version of Beta being potentially moved to RC. A point in development where the major systems and components were fleshed out. Not a gaming missing half the technical features advertised, or one with massive performance issues across the entirety of the hardware spectrum.

A prime example, that isn't Ubisoft, is Destiny. A mere few months before release the whole thing (damn near) is scrapped due to a lawsuit. Resulting in a complete mess.

But people keep throwing their wallets.......

Good catch, maybe they were drunk on Green Beer when making the chart.

Shh you will upset the fanboys with that kind of talk. They clearly looked the other way when WatchDogs, Unity, Far Cry 4, and Syndicate released.

Guys, guys... the downgrade is completely acceptable and it's just because of a change in project-scope since development began... relax! tongue.gif

I know all too well about Destiny, I have made some furious posts about how Bungie seemed to just shaft the consumer with underhanded tactics etc. I played Division on Ps4 so I can't speak for pc performence, but the Ps4 beta played well, there were a couple bugs here or there that I encountered. I did not notice any heavy fps drops that was common in things like the "fallout 4 corvega assembly plant"(this place felt like it dropped to the single digits at times) on Ps4. At least on Ps4 the game did truly feel like a beta.

Edit: On your point of technical features, from the little bit of stuff I remembered from the 2013 footage, the destruction seems toned down a good bit, I know at one point their was a billboard that the guy shot holes through, sadly the signs I did shoot(not billboards) did not have the same type of destruction. However some of the signs that lit up were able to be shot resulting in the light on the sign shattering. One thing that I did test in the beta was the cement barricades allowed for a good mount of destruction on them. They allow for about 1-2/5(estimate) to be blown off(allowing your opponent an easier time of shooting at your head when hidden behind it) , and after my friend and I dumped about 500 bullets into one it was left with more of a solid rectangle block. The destruction on the cement barricade was actually pretty good. Tiny parts would blow off right where I shot and not giant chunks like a lot of games with destruction. Tires are able to be blown out, some glass windows are able to be shot and blown apart piece by piece until it is gone. Other parts like the abandoned police car windows you can put about 100+ bullet holes in, which you see, but the glass will never fully shatter. I did not test any other parts of the destruction system.

Later tonight I will look at the old footage and what technical features they showed/advertised and I will post what parts changed that I remember from the beta.
