But it's not all AMD. Nvidia provides support for Kepler but no longer optimizes for newer games. The more new games in a test suite, the closer the 7970 gets.

Otherwise that would mean from the 7970 launch till now, they left 25% performance on the table. Having merely half of that at launch might have made a huge difference in market share as the 680 would have been unquestionably slower.

Well its not a HD 7970. Its 280X which has higher clock. Its not just HD 7970 got faster. Its games were build differently favoring GCN more.

Downgrade - no surprise. Rubbish performance - no surprise.
But is there any "cool" gaming experience there???

Rubbish performance? Even a 290 is getting 70fps at 1080p.. The performance looks solid to me.

We just have to wait for drivers from AMD/NV, especially for SLI/CF.

Except Kepler is getting optimized support for newer titles.

The VRAM is not to blame here, if it was the game would be stuttering. It's purely computational power.

My 6700k rig is using 10GB of RAM and 3.5GB of VRAM @ 4k.

My 970 is dropping serious frames at 1440p when the vram goes over 3.5gb. Everything off or on low, 1440p main monitor then two 1080p monitors for doing other stuff

I have GTX 980 SLI and play in 4k, my average is around 40. No way these charts are even close to correct, unless the old drivers were just that bad at the game. I noticed the drivers they are using are NOT the game ready drivers for this game that came out days ago.

I'd be worried (haven't tried the game, was thinking about supporting it just for the great ultrawide and multimonitor support) if it wasn't for two things:

1) Beta

2) GameGPU - I thought we all came to an agreement that their benchmarks never made sense and we weren't going to pay attention to them anymore?

No harm in trying it when the game comes out. Steam has a great refund policy. thumb.gif
