I like Sapphire and had lots of their cards in the past - my 290x is the Trix one. I fancy buying XFX though , never had one of their cards before

I've owned 3 XFX cards in the past and 1 Sapphire card. I can tell you that my personal experience would strongly recommend you go with Sapphire. They are without a doubt the best AMD GPU manufacturer.

The R9 NANO is a reference GPU, so differences will be minor. The major difference will be the support you get from the warranty. Professionally, I can objectively tell you that Sapphire's after sales support is much better.

That does not seem right to me

I don't want a 980 in any case

Theoretically a nano can consume a maximum of 195w (120w 8 pin + 75 w PCI-E) so going above the 175 mark is not impossible.
Im with OP, 980 is just ugly compared to the nano biggrin.gifrolleyes.gifthumb.gif

So what i might be a fanboi tongue.gif

Just bought an Sapphire R9 Nano myself, was umming and ahhing between that and a 980 but as you say (I'm in the UK too) the 980 is a little more expensive atm. I love my card, and it's got great performance but in my case the coil whine is very real. It doesn't annoy me that much, but just something to consider.

Just the one 8 pin connector is a pretty sweet feature , you almost never see that on high end GPU's

It does look lovely too

Yeah similar performance but a 980 costs more and is pretty ugly. Also I'd imagine it would take a 8+6 pin PCI power

TDP=/=Power consumption
75w pcie+150w 8pin=225w power supply
TDP for heat is 175w
Power consumption around 180w

But better performance than a gtx 980
http://www.legitreviews.com/amd-radeon-r9-nano-versus-nvidia-geforce-gtx-980_177681

if he will watercool the r9 nano it is a great choice but if you will stay with stock cooling a r9 fury is a good choice or may e a 390x

I am not going to watercool a nano , also I have a 290x at the moment so not much point buying a 390x. I want to get away from massive cards , high temps and noise

then wait for 2016 cards there is no point on getting a fury x unless you are at 4k and you eill get CF or 2x 290(x),and for lower resolution than 4k a 980ti but the new gpus from amd and nvidia will be at least 20-30% faster with lower power consumption

1440p is my resolution no need to 4k and crossfire 290x is utter madness if you ask me

I buy a new graphic card most years at the end of Jan / start of Feb sort of time - did not buy one last year so I am itching to buy

980ti is too expensive
