So...upgrade or wait

Yes that question again. I usually advise to always buy the best thing your money can afford because waiting is a pointless game. Pascal and Polaris are still several months away so what gives?

Well, the CAD$ my friends. Currently 1$ CAD is worth 0.72$ USD. Or 1$ USD is worth 1.4$ CAD.

A GTX 980 Ti which is 649$ USD is about 899$ CAD. I could get one for 885$ CAD(633$ USD taxes in). With taxes, a 980 Ti is worth 1,033$ CAD. I'd be effectively saving 150$.

One thing to bear in mind. If the exchange rate ever gets better for Canadians(say it gets up to 0.90), I'd be reselling the 980 Ti for much, much less than I would have bought it for.

Should I just lay off graphics cards for now? I'm currently rocking a GTX 275 and mainly gaming on my PS4.

If you guys are any good in economics forecast that'd be really helpful too. Computer hardware is crazy expensive in Canada at the moment.

I mainly play TW3, just bought Tomb Raider, planning on buying Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Star Citizen, Just Cause 3 and go back to Metro Redux. My monitor is 2560x1440. I ideally want 60fps.

I think you can wait only because you have the console as the main gaming platform right now. Add the monetary exchange rate of the canadian dollar and its to your advantage to hold off. GPU prices have not gone down, even though we have the new cards coming up. AMD is saying 5 months to 1 year from now. I dont know about pascal, but i'd wager its a similar time frrame. Either way the launch prices will be the very close to todays current prices, but with a significant performance gain. If you only had pc gaming to go on, then at 1440p i'd go for it now, but you have the console, so that gaming itch is sort of scratched.

Speaking of which, the Fury Nano can be had for 699 CAD which is about 500$ USD. There seems to have been a price drop recently.

That card is basically a very energy efficient Fury at half the size, and 96% of the performance.
