Best solution for 1440p or how is SLI 970?

Here are my choices.

SLI Strix GTX 970 used 500$(700$CAD)

XFX R9 Nano 582$(815$CAD)

Gigabyte GTX 980 Ti Gaming G1 632$(885$CAD)

I previously owned two Zotac GTX 970(reference) and was left sorely disappointed with their performance. I'm really unsure about going back to twins 970's again.

I'm open to anything really but would mainly like to have the opinions of people who have 970 in a multi-gpu configuration.

Thank you.

Current games: The Witcher 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Crysis 3, Metro 2033 and Last Light Redux

Future games: Star Citizen, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Thank you all.

Edit: Let's say my budget is 1,000$ CAD which is around 720$ USD.

A 980Ti will always be faster than a nano, but with the nano you have decent performance at the power consumption.

So basically :
980Ti - Uses more power, costs more but is 5-10% faster
R9 Nano - 175w power usage, cheaper but is 5-10% slower.
SLI 970 - Should be the fastest config by a decent margin.....when you are playing a SLI compatible game. When not, its the slowest so i wouldn't bother. I would rather go for a constant performance even at a loss on certain titles.

Im a AMD believer and dont need AA turned on etc so i would go team Red wink.gif

I'm seriously considering going AMD after seeing the disaster on older NVIDIA cards(mainly Kepler).

I'm seriously curious how is Nano 5-10% slower than 980Ti at 1440p. Cause most benchmarks I've seen of nano show it more than 30% behind. And it's not cheaper too.

nano would be the worst choice of all,it's like the fury X but massively throttling. 980Ti's come clocked at 1350MHz out of the box and can do 1500MHz on air while Nano can't even hold its stock clock due to temp and power limit.

Then I would never buy nano too. I'd get CF 390 8GB Nitro, seems like 290/390 series is really holding the value now and doing pretty well against nvidia's competition as long as the drivers are there.

You need AA at 1440p. Not sure why people say you don't.

I'd go 980 ti. Only reason to sli 970's over a 980 ti would be if you already owned one.

What disaster? Kepler isn't as good at handling some gameworks features as Maxwell. Tessellation is one that comes to mind. Damned conspiracy theories need to end.

It's getting scary with NVIDIA seemingly planning obsolescence on their cards. I don't want my 980 Ti to perform similarly to a R9 290X in two years.

But isn't it scary that $650 Fury X gets owned by $350 970 at 1080p now ?
THE best solution would be to go 980 SLI (custom cooling ones) but you'd have to stretch that budget by a bit. If not then 980Ti. If not then 390 CF (any sapphire card)

Does it? From what I've seen the Fury X beats the 970 90% of the time at 1080p and absolutely demolishes it at 1440p and above. Either way I won't be gaming at 1080p.
