Best solution for 1440p or how is SLI 970? - Page 2

I wouldn't use SLI. I have used SLI since 2008(to save money) and I gotta say its not worth it. If you get twice the performance it would be but you dont. To much complications, such as games not working, and when they do work%40 of the time there is a problem.(iv played every thing under the sun) If your going 1440p then a 980 is the only way to go. At least if you want to see over 60fps in games. You can down scale to 1080p but it wont scale right. If you get a 4k monitor down scaling to 1080p would look fine. One thing to consider, for competitive gaming a 1440p monitor might not be ideal considering the amount of pixels they have, it might make accurate aiming a little hard.

I would not get this generation of graphics card's for 4k-2k. Considering that most games in 2k will run at or just under 60fps with a 980. When new games come out its going to suck when you cant get 60+ fps.

Go with a single card. Sucks when you get a game that doesnt support SLI, been there done that.

Well I got a crazy good deal I absolutely couldn't pass up. A pair of GTX EVGA 980 SC at a bargain price. I will go pick them up on Thursday. That's an unreal deal.

Worst case scenario I'll sell one if the SLI performance is inconsistent. How do they perform generally? The Superclocked model with ACX 2.0 more specifically in SLI. Anyone has them?

Also is a 850W Corsair Gold power supply good enough to support them?

I do not miss the hassle of SLI. So nice having one powerful card and being able to just load a game up and enjoy.

Isn't multi-gpu a lot better than before? I had a pair of 7850's and they worked much much better than the 7950's I had in 2013. The micro stutter was non existent and the performance was overall far more consistent.

Either way I'm hearing the SC 980 can reach 980 Ti performances pretty handily. That's over 50% faster than a single reference 970, a card I owned in the past.

Edit: Never mind I was reading a 980 Ti review. 980 won't catch a 980 Ti even if OC'd.

2 980's either way are 30% faster than a Titan X in most cases but that also depends how sli scales in a game

thats why i like sticking to single high end GPU's
