saw it on Teamliquid a couple of days ago.

It's terrible that something like this happens. I was really looking forward to see Life - Bunny and then they postponed the match and I got suspicous and then later on they announced he was arrested.

If he is found guilty, KeSPA will strip Seung Hyun of all StarCraft titles he had won under its jurisdiction, and it will also permanently ban him from participating in any other KeSPA events.

It's no different than a football team throwing a match for money or a boxer going KO for the same reason. It brings the entirety of the sport into disrepute and makes it look nonsensical and a farce. I already have problems accepting that esports are a real sport but look at FIFA and the whole corruption scandal there.

How can you take football seriously when it's nothing but bribery, fraud and fakes? People stop watching matches, stadiums are empty, the billions who watch the World Cup stop watching and it all dies. We have this problem with cycling too, with world famous cyclist admitting to doping because everyone does it. Good job, the sport might as well die.

Could be the fact that SC2 is dying. Maybe the guy wanted to have some money for the future.

It's not the action per se the thing that is getting him arrested. There's money involved also.

It does sound stupid to arrest him for this, just not as stupid as getting payed 100k a year for playing a video game wink.gif

It's a lucrative scam. You give someone money to throw, and bet money on his loss. There, Profit.

Just goes against the integrity of the gamble.

It does sound kinda silly though. Till you realize it's no different from rigging the roulette in a casino.

haha, really funny, what a joke.
Till you realize the amount of money is involved in this situation, then the joke is over.

The man was one of the richest SC2 players in the world already.
The only thing he potentially did here was actually mess up the rest of his life.
He might have to pay a huge fee or he can actually land in jail for this stunt. Gambling is after all illegal in South Korea bar some exceptions.

I think it is pretty open isn't it, you just sign up and pay a entry fee for most tournaments.
