Is it due to the game being out of balance or is it too hard to be good at being Protoss, which happens to be my favorite race ?

Somebody paid him to lose while betting underground that he would lose so that both the player and the better profit illegally. This has been ongoing and a pretty big issue in korean esports since at least 2010 - http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/Match_Fixing_Scandal

Just a bit of trouble, particularly against zerg (needing to be better than the zerg to keep a 50/50 winrate over a large sample size). Not a huge balance problem but notable enough to mention and get adjusted by devs soon.

A large part of it is that the current map pool is quite bad and favors Zerg. There are numerous maps from the community and even older versions of the game that would even the odds a bit, just not maps that are currently in play because of how blizzard controls the ladder and tournament map pools.

The number of different attributes, units, and just a ton of aspects that can change balance must be crazy to manage. Its not like each race has identical units. So many things are different - from resource gathering to building structure to combat to whatever else. How the hell does Blizzard decide what to adjust?

The general gist seems to be.
-look at current problem
-try to bruteforce fix said problem with changes
-fixed past problem but now new problem

rise and repeat.
It is almost impossible to balance it and the way it was done in BW was that the maps were designed for stuff and a lot of stuff was OP as hell but because everyone had it, it sorta balanced out.
Combine that with the fact that BW was really hard to control some stuff made it awesome seeing pro's using OP stuff like reaver drops or just straight up using dragoons without getting stuck tongue.gif

They fix it by breaking something else. If game was 100% balanced there will be the same people at the top and game would get boring. Same goes with games like Dota 2 but at least there getting different team players changes the chemistry of the play.

Brood war had levels of imbalance that are outright unacceptable in todays RTS world, people just didn't realize it as much. It helps that basically nobody played brood war anywhere near pro level because of huge mechanical skill requirements, so they were not able to personally experience an imbalance.

Hahaha, this Sc2 player should read a "how to" protect his base from the terran insurgency that is going to follow after he is in prison and taking a shower with his fellow Korean teammates. Baby please , his posterior is going to be violated that none of his sc2 tactics are gonna help. I wish him at least to have a tube a Vaseline with him. oh the beautiful life of a gamer

For some people that don't understand the magnitude of this in Korea - its equal to either Kobe Bryant or Tom Brady getting caught for throwing games in their sport for gamblers to win money. Basically an elite professional in their craft got caught doing something seriously illegal - kinda like what Pete Rose did and have happened to him.

Koreans take eSports/professional PC gaming very seriously that even pro athletes and olympians look up to star pro gamers as heroes.

Lol now that's just plain exaggeration. I've been in Korea for over a year and while SC2 pros are quite known, they are not portrayed as nationwide heroes. And no, they're not at the same magnitude of Kobe being found illegal of anything. rolleyes.gif

don't need to overblow stuff just to make it sound dramatic.
