Remember the days when you couldn't move for World War 2 shooters? The days of Call of Duty 2, Day of Defeat and Medal of Honor (when it was good)? One developer from Derby wants to bring those days back.
Bringing back the competitive WW2 shooters using Unreal Engine 4, looks pretty interesting to me! But it looks like they are going to need a lot of interest to hit that $100,000 Kickstarter but at least they have a good plan behind it:

It sounds like the developers have worked out a solid plan for the creation of the game. There's even a pie chart to prove it:
And the cycle continues. When WW2 games were coming out left and right everyone was complaining they were tired of WW2 games and wanted something new. Then we moved to modern times, and now look. It's a vicious cycle
While we bounce between WWII / modern-day / near-future, there's always the Cold War. Story potential is dope: the Red Scare, the Space Race, the proxy wars in Southeast Asia and Korea and Africa and Latin America, US v USSR spies, Eastern bloc and breakup of the USSR and puppet states, the Suez crisis, etc.
Cold War should be the next genre, without a doubt. We've done modern to death, WW2 to death, and near-future just passed its peak.
They keep talking about doing all this "new" things in the video, except it has all been done multiple times.
Also a lot of wishful talk, but no proof: "We want ot have a solid netcode"... Yeah, you and everyone else. One thing is saying it, and another one is achieving it.
No! No more WW2 shooters. Maybe in 5-7 years it will be good to see it's return. But I am still sick of WW2 shooters.
Interestingly, I wonder how a WW2 shooter will do in the casual community nowadays. They've gotten used to xray vision and endless UAVs. Before trying to revive the WW2 genre, why don't they branch out to waters unknown and make a Vietnam shooter. Or a WW1 shooter? Personally, I would love to see a WW1 shooter. With chemical attacks, old style planes, and flamethrowers.
Geeez, some of you are salty about WW2 games....I wonder why? (you guys sucked at them
jk)
Im really looking foward to this game. When they said they want to make a game that they want to play, that just made me be like "duh, thats what I want!"
There is always a time for WW2 games and now is a good time. A lot of the modern games right now seem to be getting a bit bland and going back to what started military FPS games is and should be essential from time to time.
I remember the days I would play MOHAA on my old HP PC with a Pentium 3 at 1 gigglehertz, 128mb of SDRAM and an ATI 7500 SE......oh and Dial up too! Ping would be at 150 to 200 depending on server but 150 was doable, somehow I managed to do well with that ping.
Once I got a broadband connection at home (HS graduation gift from my Mom's) the world changed for me and started playing COD and COD UO like crazy.
Sigh....those were the days PC was the true PC Master Race back then, especially with Clans and all, using TS or Ventrilo....
I remember a time when I was so over all the WWII shooter that where coming out and was excited for the change to more modern shooters, I can't believe it is going full circle.
