Steam downloading issues

Is anyone else having downloading issues with Steam? I'm trying to download CSGO on my new PC and it keeps scheduling the download to start in 5 minutes. When it hits that time, it only downloads for a few seconds, then resumes the queuing thing. I've tried forcing the download by pressing play, which gives me an error saying "Download corrupt". I've never had this issue with Steam before and it's quite annoying. I've heard from someone else that deleting everything in your Steam folder except Steam.exe and the steamapps folder, restarting your PC and launching Steam from the .exe file will fix the issue, but I'm skeptical. I have 3.1 gigs of 5.4 installed and I'd hate to lose my progress if it fails. Is it an SSD issue? What would I do with all the Steam files and folders in my recycling bin? If anyone has some advice it'd be awesome.

Thanks!

If the download is corrupt then you won't be doing yourself any favors by saving the partial download. You can go to your Steam library, right click on the game, and select 'delete local content' to purge the corrupt files without messing with your other game files. This should allow you to start over and have a chance to correctly download the game.

The real problem is the corruption. It is more than likely your connection, although there is a minor chance it could be the drive. If you are using wireless then you might want to use whatever methods you can to minimize connection issues.

I think Steam addressed this issue already, by suggesting you type steam:flushconfig in Run, restarting your PC and launching Steam from youe Program Filesx86, I'm going to try that eventually and see if it works
