Bet an Intel Dual-Core will run rings around it tho.

You're not after a bunch of people started speculating? We do know that there is at least a 40% increase in IPC from Excavator which should be a good boost.

very much so, as long as the clocks are high enough then its going to be pretty solid, the issue is well how high are the clocks going to get?

If I had the choice between twice the cores or a crappy iGPU taking up half the space, I would take twice the cores.

This is geared to servers with highly threaded workloads. Each core will probably have around a 2ghz clock speed. It isn't for enthusiasts.

If the rumors are true about SMT (is that still a rumor?) they may also have 64 threads. You could replace a whole rack of servers from five or six years go with this one chip. Very cool.

off side would be is if they are counting GPU cores part of the total count

Bulldozer has 16 core variants. 32 cores with a die shrink seems plausible.

Besides if they were counting GPU cores it would be much higher. Intel has 48 core igpus now, AMD wouldn't settle for 16 or 24.

Honestly all I ever wanted was more cores. still pissed that AMD stopped at 8 when they said up to 12 for FX initially, I really feel like if they did that and priced them just under intel 6 cores, people with rendering needs would have bought them up like yum yum.
