That graphic shows what is clearly a 2 way SMT configuration. Unless an FPU is now a "core".
Yep, you're right, the new info says 2 threads per core. There was talk of CMT under SMT back in April, probably where that info came from originally.
Well, it's still gonna have 4 lanes per core and quad channel DDR4 memory of up to a terabyte even if we DO have to deal with the bulldozer in the closet.
Dug a touch of it up from anand:
(Clearly indicates that Zen is an SMT shell on Bulldongle)
If they ARE putting the CMT under SMT instead of dropping it entirely (I mean look at the hardware block diagram?) we could get a good increase in flexibility on the processor and finally gain the mathematical advantage of the CMT without having to sacrifice a whole core to its operation.
Not gonna bait my breath, but this is
one of Jim Keller's babies.
AMD has been known to call APU GPU portions "cores" too, "compute" cores. So and 8 and 8 APU with 32 threads... yuk yuk yuk.
Gods, just wish they'd get the Polaris XI out of the closet in Canada and show a pic.Edited by prjindigo - 2/6/16 at 2:31pm
