Upgrade GTS450 - Page 5

Well I got the card and it's running fine. Able to up my settings in FO4 and that's all I really wanted.

On a side note I don't think I like AMD's drivers. I've had several black screens for no apparent reason. Screen came back but there wasn't anything I could
pinpoint that would have triggered it. Maybe I should clean the drivers and roll back to an earlier driver?

1) Yes, try an earlier stable build. Personally I don't like all the new fancy crap they added going from Catalyst Control Center to the new format.

2) Did you use drive sweeper/Display driver uninstaller to get rid of the hidden drivers in your registry? Regular uninstalls won't remove these hidden/hard to reach drivers, and they can affect stability.

Yeah I used the sweeper in safe mode then installed new drivers.

This is a used model right? Try running furmark to make sure your GPU is fully functional and you didn't get a dying graphics card.

I can't seem to install 3dmark anything. I've done the 'heaven' benchmark with no problems. I haven't had it black screen in about 5 hours.

Is there a particular driver y'all know of that works well on the older cards and still clashes well with newer games?

What OS?

I saw your other thread and this might help . . .

Try to use Crimson again after doing above. If still giving you issue, i suggest going back to 15.7.1 at least . . .

not sure if that link will work. it works.
