5. Open the sweetlow driver, click install service, set your desired polling rate, and finally click restart device.

Now you should check if the polling rate set with mouserate.exe
If it really is that easy then I'm going to upgrade to Windows 10 tonite.

Nothing really but I also wanted to try the 2000hz+ overclocking on my IE 3.0s and for some reason I though the win 10 overclocking was harder.

I wouldn't say that is necessarily true. I accidentally made mine malfunction at least a couple times every game of cs at 30cm/360.

Someone on these forums claimed with graphs that showed the behavior he was describing that the nature of what happens when you reach high speed depends on the orientation of the mouse pad. His claim was with things like a qck landscape malfunctions while portrait just caps out. I wouldn't even call that negative acceleration since change in velocity causes no change in counts. Idk for sure if that claim was correct, but his graphs showed the behavior that happened to me. Mine certainly malfunctioned. I'm pretty sure it was a legit one since I got it for free used from a friend like 8 years ago or so. I would end up turning the wrong direction facing the sky a few times a game.

You probably had an IO1.1 X05 or the WMO1.0 They had an Avago sensor and not a MLT04. I bought one not knowing the difference for $3. Ended up scalping it for the Omron JP switches so I got something in return for the money spent

i've been using the mlt04 since 2006 or something and i've never had one consistently doing that. currently playing with 54cm/360 and it just caps out.

It was an IMO 1.1. I wasn't aware there were ones with different sensors though. I no longer have the mouse as I smashed it on my desk after it malfunctioned one time and threw it away (only thing I've ever broken in over 15 years of gaming). Were there any noticeable differences without opening the mouse or checking the serial number?

Microsoft branding was black (although the X06 also had this) vs the silver font. A better way to distinguish is by the bottom surface. X05 had the pin number enclosed in an oval vs a rectangular label in X06/X08. Go through the links below and look at the pictures; these are not my listings so I am not advertising by any means, admins:

Pretty easy to be confused between the two versions as the shells are pretty much identical. The sensors on the other hand are completely different
